This is all news to me .... has none of this gotten out there at all or have I just not noticed it ...

SPECIAL FAN ADVISORY FOR SATURDAY’S MATCH:

The Kansas City Wizards are encouraging supporters to arrive early for Saturday’s match at 7:30 p.m. against Seattle Sounders FC at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The Wizards have several activities planned throughout the day and are expecting a capacity crowd for the match, so fans are asked to plan accordingly to avoid traffic and long lines immediately prior to kick-off.

The Wizards are hosting a barbecue contest in the CommunityAmerica Ballpark parking lots during the day and will also be hosting five local soccer matches on the field before and after the Wizards match.

The game is also “Kicks for Canines,” which will allow fans who have purchased a special ticket package to bring their dogs into a reserved section of the stadium. Saturday is also KC Wizards College Night and students from the University of Kansas can take advantage of a special $20 ticket package that includes a bleacher ticket, ride to/from the match, and a hot dog and soda.

Tickets to Saturday’s match were also available on the popular website Groupon, and all fans who purchased the Groupon ticket package must redeem their vouchers at a special tent set up at Gate B.

The Legends area will be hosting a charity 5K on Saturday morning that will close several streets in the area. Fans arriving to CommunityAmerica Ballpark for early events on Saturday are advised to access the stadium from the west side, as State Avenue, 110th Street, and Stadium will all be open. Access from the east of the stadium will be unavailable from 6:30-11:00 a.m.

Especially for a final. I can understand doing it for some of the lead up games and whatnot, but the final should not be 'bought'. Neither here nor there for the topic at hand though. (I know, since when has that stopped anyone?)

My opinion on the bidding has softened -- that was the first USOC final that felt like it meant something and it was largely due to the crowd. That kills site neutrality for me as an argument -- this Isn't england where you can drive from the extreme north to london in 8 hours max, that won't get you out of some states in the US. Other than bidding I am not sure how the allow people to choose unless it truly is random. USOC Final at the Des Moines Menace stadium?

Ok, having it at a home stadium is a good idea then, perhaps do a home and home series then? Again, at least for the final. Should a team _really_ be given a home field advantage for a final? And at least if Seattle had made the MLS cup last year it just happened to coincide with them hosting the MLS Cup instead of them buying it.

I doubt we'd do that. Nearly our entire Open Cup campaign was played on a small pitch you know. :D

Oh, god. I had never heard Seattle's 'anthem' before. That is just BAD, meat-head rock. Ours is brilliant in comparison.

I wasn't making fun of it. I actually kind of like it.

I think you all should probably embrace it. That line is pretty good. After all why would anyone wanna start a fight with the boys in blue in white, right?

Also "go and start the bus, there's nothing to discuss" is quite clever as well.

And as far as our anthem, it is good for the simple fact that the ex-Christian rock band are Sounders fans and they got the supporters involved in the writing of the song and showcased them in a a big budget MTV style video. I actually like the song too. It's powerful, especially when it is blaring out of the stadium after a victory.

I wasn't trolling. I actually like that song. It was one of the better if not the best one to come out of that whole campaign if you ask me.

For what it's worth there are two anthems now for the Sounders:

Sounds like the name of a bad 80's song.....

Seriously, does anybody here really care about anthems? Do Seattle fans care about theirs? I guess you guys in Seattle care about music more than we do, with your marching band and all.........

I wish we did embrace it but I've never found much support for it, I prefer the lines "No Love, No Pity, just a one way ticket out of Kansas City." It is actually my ringtone and has been since it came out.

Okay, going back to this, it was difficult finding any info on it. So, for anyone curious about the local soccer matches, here 'tis:

"There are two USSSA games, beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by two high school games in the afternoon and one more game at 9:45 p.m. after the Wizards-Sounders match." *compliments of kaustin01 on the kcstar.

Nyassi will be available for Seattle on Saturday, after all. From Seattle Times reporter Joshua Mayers:

Is it just me, or are the Wizards a light echo of our USA team lately? We've managed to come back with a string of wins after conceding early goals, only to peter out right when fans are full of hope.

At this point, I just want us to play a solid 90 on Saturday and show the Sounders they can't just roll into the playoffs so easily.

Okay, Smith is off the injured list.

In a way, I'm almost glad Thomas is on international duty. Dude's still soft in the middle and resembles a 'cone' at times. I thought Besler did a decent job subbing in for Jimmy last time around against the Sounders, so I guess I give him 'my' nod over Leathers.

    From the game preview:

I hope this doesn't turn into and diving exhibition.
