Just saw the story on IMS. If's Brian is reporting that you guys have been sold, it's 99.9% likely.

if it means our team will stick around, then I'm all for it. Also, I have to admit that the line he wrote about the new owner having MLS ambitions kind of gets me excited! Probably won't happen, unless the guy has more money then he/she/they know what to do with. But even then....?

Well, considering that we have been correct with all the news involving Cooper, then I guess you can say if the NASL Fanatic reports it, and it regards Cooper, it would be 100% right :)

I hear that Jack Daniels might be buying the team! And all shall be well in the Kingdom :)

I am actually leaving the Southern Illinois area (thank god). Honestly, southern Illinois is way worse than St. Louis. Once you cross the river into Illinois, the IQ drops by about 100.

Cooper selling the team and being 100% out of the team would be the best option. I just hope this thing is run better than this time around.

I appreciate Jeff Cooper getting the team started and fighting for an MLS team all these years. But if he's lost interest, which seemed the case when ACSTL had no representation at the important USSF D2 meetings in August, then selling the team would be a positive thing, not only for the area but for the future of D2 soccer in North America.

Bottom line, having a franchise here has established that professional men's soccer can be succesful in the STL region. Already a bottom line of 2200-2700 ticket-buying fans has been established....not a lot, but a start. With better marketing in the future and the stain of the Athletica folding in the past, better things can happen.

Don't kid yourself. He's an unpatriotic self proclaimed frenchie faking his interest in division 2 soccer. If it's not European, it's not REAL soccer according to this f***. Also, if you drink one pint while watching a match, you're automatically a drunk and have no knowledge of the sport.

    What a f***ing joke.

Yeah, when you say "you guys," that doesn't include dccoulthard. He's admitted that he's not even a fan of AC. He just sticks around on the forum to antagonize the rest of us.

No I wanna St.Louis Make it i hate seeing teams fold, And St. Loius is an important part of soccer history. Plus I believe St. Louis a big key to more Midwest teams spouting up.

I will be sad if Cooper is no longer a part of the ownership. Of course, I hope whatever happens helps the team long term. The report that the new owner isn't a "soccer guy" worries me a bit. Also if the new owner is overly focused on MLS then that might be a bad thing. Let's hope for the best.

There are those out there who will be happy if Cooper is out of the picture, but those people never spent any time with the man. He was passionate about this game and having it succeed in St. Louis. He's been drug through the mud, but he's done his best to keep this thing afloat when he could have just walked away months ago and saved himself a ton of money. He also spent several million of his personal fortune trying to bring an MLS team to our city and spent countless hours trying to get other people on board with his vision. Yes, he made some mistakes along the way, but he tried. Any time he wants to show up in Section 20, I'll buy the man a beer.

I have to agree I'll be sad to see if Cooper isn't a minority owner to some extent. But in the end if this is best for the team to survive and then thrive I will still support this team week in and week out.

After speaking to several people, Floodplain Footy has learned that what the Fanatic is posting is false.

    I wish we were wrong.

This is just like when The Fanatic 'reported' that Jeff Cooper never had a contract with the Vaids.

We chose not to jump in on the rumors until we could confirm something.

We cannot and have been told that the rumors are totally false and to put and END TO THEM.

Not sure of what to make of it, but when I typed in AC St Louis news, it shows up something that was posted on IMS 36 minutes ago, about St Louis resident Ryan Woods making a bid to purchase the team. When you click on the link to IMS, it comes up with an error message.

In addition to yours truly, Ryan Woods and Chris Dornfeld are in Section 20. Remember those names my friends.

Founded Gateway Real Estate Partners in 2003. Nice photo!! Looks like he enjoys being in the mix. I like that in a potential owner. My question is, how deep are his pockets??

This is from August 7, 2009 article on WVHooligan.com

Cooper released a statement regarding the proposed site saying he is still focused on Fenton (at the St. Louis Soccer Park) and Collinsville.
Ryan Woods approached me with his plan some time ago, but none of our discussions have been serious. In the meantime, earlier this year we acquired the St. Louis Soccer Park from Anheuser-Busch and are committed to exploring that site as a potential home for a new, state-of-the-art stadium for professional soccer. Also, we continue to work with Collinsville, which has been a terrific partner to date. The Richmond Heights proposal is not one that has our attention at this time.

Seriously...you can't premiere a team in Fenton and then tell their fans to drive to Collinsville...ain't gonna happen.

The Collinsville quote was a quote from 2009.
