I am not saying Kinnear should be the next USMNT coach or anything. You have to see what options are out there first and no one here knows the USSF's buget or which coaching would be willing to take the job. That being said, Kinnear is a good coach. Anyone who is using this season alone as evidence that he's a bad coach is usually a person looking to bash any American coach that enters into the equation for the USMNT job. This year's Houston team does not have a lot of talent. The core has been gutted and Kinnear has to rebuild the team. Over the course of his coaching career, he has done a very good job.
I bet 1 dollar on BB or JK. DK might get an assistant job if JK becomes a coach (how much DK is making at Dynamo?).
Back in '07 he was making around $250k/year. I'd guess something from 250-300k/year...he would be making considerably less as a USMNT assistant I'd suppose.
PN was making $230K as an NT assistant, if SG hires JK they might raise assistant coach salary taking into account how much DK is making at Dynawho.
I'd be ok with it as long as we got someone respectable to replace Dom in Houston. The guy really is a master tactician, I think his problems lie in trades and signings in collaboration with Canetti and the other FO guys in Houston...we have had a couple bad moves last/this year that have hurt us. Like I said though, tactically he'd be great with our National team. He gets 100% out of players and expects the best, as well as playing positive, attacking ball (when he has the personnel )
Kinnear is better on offense than Bob was with the Chivas and the Metros. Tuca Ferretti said after that Pumas CL series that Dynamo played a higher quality ball than the US Nats. But his club is horribly disorganized in the back. As MLS keeps taking small steps forward with every season, it's important for coaches to keep pace. And Dom Kinnear and Steve Nicol have surely not done that.
You have no idea what you're talking about. You are aware of the personnel situation in Houston, aren't you? A large portion of that over the last couple years was completely out of Dominic's hands. Its hard for people (like me) to sit idly by when you consistently spew out strange and baseless opinions. I can't speak for Nicol, but its not like these guys magically take up the inability to adapt from one season to the next.
The Dynamo has enough quality personnel to lead the league in points and be ranked among the leaders in both goals scored and goals allowed. Onstad is a veteran and an international. Mulrooney is a vet and an ex-international. Boswell is a vet and an ex-international and the ex--MLS Defender of the Year. Robinson is an ex-MLS All-Star. Plus, with Ching, Weaver, Ngwenya, Oduro, Ash and Mullan, they have enough offensive talent to force the other team to defend a lot more than attack. And yet, they're a sieve. That's coaching.
ya, sure ... blame the talent in the parity driven league ... Hey, how did that get posted here? He is managing the bureaucracy. This is the problem with all FA's. How the heck did Argentina end up with that nimrod Maradona or Brazil with Dunga? Obviously, the Argentine and the Brazilian FA's signed off on those moves. It's just how it goes with those entities. That said, Gulati effed up the 2006-10 coaching selection royally.
Ex-all star. Ex-international. ex, ex, ex... That's the whole point. Our team is old and slow. The talented young players we have are a few years off of their primes. The few players we have in their primes can't do it on their own. Even Onstad has lost a step and this should be his last season. Our best player (Cameron) has spent over half the season hurt. Dom Kinnear took those players you mentioned and they won two MLS Cups. They are not the same players they were then.
This ^... is a perfect world 1. Jurgen in place of Sunil 2. (Van Gaal or Hiddink) Coaching the USMNT, the other is the coach of the U20's.
i dont get why people cant understand that player development takes A LOT OF TIME. look at spain theyve always had good players here and there but never good enough to be a powerhouse.till now..now they got superstars on the field bench and even at home watching the world cup from home patience
