I just read a tz article on it.

The kid currently only has an amateur contract which ends at the end of this season.

The club is trying to get him to sign a two-year professional contract.

They think he will sign, but it isn't done yet.

This is what threw me off.

After I said he was only signed through 2011, you wrote this:

I read it the way you wrote it. I read it to mean that the article says he's signed through 2013 and they're working on a professional contract with his agent.

It is possible for him to have an amateur contract through 2013 and the club want to bump him up.

    Sorry I misunderstood.

    On the edge of seventeen...

...no, no...not the Stevie Nicks song, but rather the probability of Coach Maurer bringing up yet another set of young stars into the professional roster. TZ is reporting today that midfielder David Manga (21), striker Dimitry Imbongo Boele (20) and offensive all-arounder Bobby Wood (17) have been brought into the profi training this week.

Now, are these guys actually going to get playing time at the pro level? Or are they being brought in to put a boot up the ass of guys like Lovin, Uzoma, Savio and others who may not be giving 100%? My guess is the latter. While Manga and Boele have been impressing by scoring for the U23s, Wood has yet to get a game at that level. However, given the success of Leitner of late, perhaps Wood just might get a chance to play.

Wouldn't that be ironic...the American to come back and play this season is not the one we expected (Cooper), but rather a 17 year-old who has been as 1860 for a while. :D

    ^^^^^^

I don't agree with your accusing some of these guys of "not giving 100%" Garry. Specifically Lovin and Uzoma.

I think they are getting looks at these boys to gauge the sporting feasibility of trying to sell off even more players, such as the ones you named.

I don't know of any 1860 player who was more fired up for this season to get underway than Lovin.

You even talked about his leading the team and now you turn around and accuse him of "not giving 100%?"

    Come on man.

What is more than likely going on is that guys like Lovin and Uzoma are going to be put up for sale to raise more cash.

Totally agree with you on Savio though.

I you read the recent articles and listen to Maurer's interviews since Monday, he has said exactly that. Why do you think Lovin sat the whole game. Maurer was quoted as saying in one of his interviews that Florin was playing too conservative for his taste. If I can find the exact quote I will post it, but I am sure it is one of the articles I posted in the past few pages.

I agree he wants to see more players and, while I don't disagree with your assertion it is to beef up the visibility of young talent, I think he has other ideas in mind too. Here is a direct quote from the article above: "Die Wahrheit liegt auf dem Platz. Ich kann ja nicht nach Gehaltszettel aufstellen". For those non-German speakers it says, "The truth is on the pitch. I cannot pick my team based on a paycheck." To me, that says many things. Clearly he wants to apply pressure on his older players. Whether he has other ideas ALSO in mind? Who knows?

I don't want to trash Lovin because I think he DOES want to play hard. BUT....1) he does play VERY defensive, and 2) he is shy going in to challenges he normally would have gone full bore on since his injury. I think Maurer wants to deliver a message that he needs to step up his game...no matter how "fired up" he may think he is, Maurer wants more.

    Dude, not me: Maurer.

Well, Lovin perhaps. But why would ANYONE buy Uzoma now when they could have had him for pennies (if not free) this summer? Naw, if that were the case those two would be starting every game to show what they can do. I think Maurer MAY eventually get them back in the line-up as consistent starters, but for now I think he is sendign a message that he does not care who you are...you better leave it all out on the field or else.

This punk better man-up and start realizing he ain't all that or he will find his arse on a night train back to Genoa VERY fast. Maurer has stricken him from the roster for Sunday and he was forced to apologise to the team. No fine but he has been warned and his team mates are none too happy with him.

Don't get me wrong...I am not naiive enough to think ANYONE at 1860 is doing anything GOOD on purpose. And I subscribe to your notion that there is more going on. Given how f'd up this looks, if there is more there they are going about increasing value of older players in a very odd manner. But we ARE talking Stevic here.

    Message Heard?

Obervers are questioning if 1860 is in the midst of making a change in central defense. The TZ is reporting that both Buelow and Ghvinianidze have "injuries" and that Bell and Ayguen may start this weekend. Oddly enough Buelow and Ghvinianidze had been training this week without sign of a problem.:cool:

Well, maybe our prayers were answered.:D

Well below is the proposed line-up. The only change from last week is that Buelow is out and Bell is in. For some odd reason Ghvinianidze is STILL in the line-up. Seems Savio is not the only one in the dog house as Beda is also listed as "not available" though he is not injured. There is an article today saying he is hoping for a call from FCK.

I just hope we can control central midfield better and shut down their attack. Central defense has to come up bit too. No more head-up-arse errors or standing around watching guys tee up the shot.

    1860: 1 Kiraly - 2 Rukavina, 3 Bell, 19 Ghvinianidze, 17 Buck - 16 Stahl, 35 Leitner - 15 Aigner, 7 Bierofka - 9 Rakic, 11 Lauth

    Bench: 12 Tschauner (Tor) - 8 Ignjovski, 13 Aygün, 18 Ludwig, 21 Kaiser, 22 Uzoma, 24 Lovin, 25 Biancucchi, 28 Halfar, 31 Volland.

    Questionable: 4 Bülow (Rückenprobleme).

Not Available: 5 Beda, 10 Savio (beide nicht berücksichtigt), 33 Cooper (Außenknöchelbruch), 20 Camdal, 23 Schwarz, 26 Schindler, 29 Ziereis, 34 Hofstetter (alle U23).

    VfL: 1 Berbig - 13 Schnetzler, 24 Barletta, 4 Nickenig, 11 Lejan - 21 Heidrich, 18 Tyrala - 14 Siegert, 10 Lindemann, 15 Kotuljac - 9 Adler.

    Bench: 33 Riemann (Tor) - 2 Herrmann, 3 Tauer, 5 Gorka, 7 Schmidt, 8 Bencik, 16 Twyrdy, 17 Pauli, 22 Diabang, 23 Stang, 26 Latkowski, 30 Hansen, 34 Andersen.

Not Available: 6 Krük (Gelb-Rot-Sperre), 25 Engel (Trainingsrückstand).

Schiedsrichter: Christian Fischer (Hemer); Assistenten: Dominik Nowak (Bottrop), Rafael Foltyn (Mainz-Kastel); Vierter Offizieller: Markus Sinn (Filderstadt).

Garry, AFAIK, Beda isn't one of the disciplinary problems.

I believe he's one they're trying to sell.

True on the sale part. However I doubt they have any real offers for him, but who knows. He is so far under the radar right now anything could happen. With only a few days left they would have to make a decision very soon.

I heard that he is being punished because of comments made to the press where he was quoted as saying, "1860 is a funny place: one day you are a starting player and the next day you are shoved out. It's comical, but that is how it works. One never knows where they stand or what is expected." True words, but the club appears to have not liked it.

What decision? Either they can sell him or they can't.

Right now, I don't think they can.

I don't give a shit if they like it or not. He's correct, isn't he??

Well, yes it is true. But that does not stop the club from punishing him. You won't get me defending the club mgmt on that point...all I was doing was pointing out what he said and what the club did.

Well, I think we deserved the 3-1 win. Bell, Book & Candle(a german band) looked well while Uzoma didn´t on the left defensive position. It really seems like it could workout with "young blood" Leitner giving our game the dangerous moments, Bierofkas comeback and Aigners runs.

Not to forget Rakic. Man, I remember January when I had to defend Micky why he had transfered someone like Rakic to 1860 while KC got loaned to Plymouth. Well done Micky ! ;) He could be key to success.

Good stuff from Rakic, 2 goals and an assist. In all honesty he is probably better than Pantelic and Zigic and should be on the Serbian national team ahead of those bums.

Btw where the hell is Ignjovski?

With all the things LB could give you an big f#cking "I TOLD YOU SO" about, this shit from you is petty.

And the things LB can give you the "I TOLD YOU SO" are far more important!!!

Do you f#cking remember them?? I will give you a hint.

They are financial and who was doing it right!!

LB and I argued all this transfer period over the merits of bringing Rakic back.

I was for it as long as it was financially feasible. He was against it.

He knows if anyone can give him shit about it, it is me.

But I also know that would be petty and stupid. It is also far too early for it.

Stop being a shithead here man.

Re: TSV 1860 München -VfL Osnabrück 3-1

He had a very good game today, but let's see how he progresses. He is not playing as lazy as he did last season. Today especially he showed he really wanted to play. I have been told that Maurer is very, very hard on the players as far as putting pressure on them to show they deserve to play. Rakic knows that there are guys behind him just waiting to play. today he showed he wanted to play.

As Footy said, he is injured slightly and they want to sell him. If the transfer window closes and he is still on the team, if he is healthy he will have to win back his starting position from Stahl.

My main reasons for being against Rackic were: 1) he was lazy, 2) he lost the ball too much, 3) you heard all about his dribbling/finishing skills but never saw it, 4) for the money (at the time it was 300k) he was WAY too expensive for too little in return. Has any of that changed? A bit. He works harder now, he is showing his dribbling a bit more, he is not losing as many balls in midfield.

Yup. True dat. But it's WAY too early to get all coked up on Rakic. Remember, Cooper had 3 very good games and then he (and the team) went sour. Of course I am preaching to the choir on that.

As far as the game is concerned, we were VERY lucky to walk away with a win. The third goal, while a beautiful play, should not have happened. We counted with one of their players obviously on the ground. Professional etiquitte is to play the ball out. We counted and scored. Had that happened TO us the Sechzig fans in the Nordkuerve would have been tossing lighters on the pitch.

Osnabrueck very nearly pulled one back twice in the last ten minutes, so even though the score was 3-1 it was ALOT closer than the score would indicate. Deserved win? Yes, but I would rather win 2-1 and play according to protocol.

On Rakic, yes, he played well. But I would not get carried away with him. Cooper scored a few goals too early last season. If he continues to score and play like he did today I will be happy as anyone. But let's not declare victory in the war when your troops are still in training, shall we?

I think last season Rakic went as the team went. I know he could be lazy and definitely showed it at times, but I also believe some of you blow it out of proportion at times too.

But I've said that in the past. That is nothing new.

    I don't know Garry.

I'm thinking 1860 might still want to use their buy option on Cubic Zirconia and try to sell him in January.

As far as I know, they never did complete that deal this time.

If they want to do that, they have to put their Cubic Zirconia "in the shop window" if you will.......

Dude, as I stated, there's no way I was going to give any "I told you sos" around here. While he's kicking ass right now, as you said, Kenny last season is the perfect example of jumping on a bandwagon too early.

Exactly. You're preaching to the choir as you can see in my sentence above.

Which is why I chastized our friend for giving you a huge "I TOLD YOU SO" when you can give him a hundred "I TOLD YOU SO's" about the entire crazy situation this club is in off the field.

    Spot on.

Have to agree. I wouldn't want a rival being able to point to unprofessionalism/lack of sportsmanship by my club and actually have a point.

Not trying to go political here, but you know this reminds me of a certain trip to an aircraft carrier, don't you??? ;)

I totally agree with you. This is exactly why I told our friend he was being petty.

I agree. I think that if they cannot someone to buy him now that they sell him in January. Also agree on the transfer...I don't think they completed that yet and am hearing that the request to "sit" him was approved by Belgrade as they did not want to injure him further.

Looking at the play again the person who had the ball and did not notice the player down was Leitner. Now, it could be argued that he is a U17 player and does not know professional courtesy but that would be BS...every player knows that unwritten rule. I hope he does not get villified for that. Lord knows the return leg is going to be very interesting.

    LOL....yeah!

Shit. This reminded me of something I meant to post before the game.

Stevic gave a quick interview with Sky before the match.

There were only two main things that came out of it.

    Neither one is any secret.

    1) Aigner isn't going anywhere: Stevic said all talks with VfB have ended and Aigner is staying with 1860. What he did not say was whether this is against Aigner's will or not. After hearing Aigner's comments after the Bochum match on Sky, I would say this is against Aigner's will. As we've said here before, it seems it came down to 1860 wanting more than VfB was willing to pay.

    2) Professional contract talks with Leitner are still going on: Stevic said the same shit that we know from reading az & tz. The talks are going on and they are confident the kid wants to stay and sees that 1860 is the best place to grow. Really Micky? Then why hasn't he signed yet? If he felt that way, this shit would have been done within days. My guess is that FCA and others have been talking to the kid's agent and making promises to pay him more than 1860 if he signs with them when his contract expires. Am I saying the kid is going to leave? No way. I don't know what is going on. I'm just guessing. However, I don't understand why giving a 17-year old a pro deal is taking this long if the kid is as eager to do it as Stevic claims he is.

    Comments on the press conference:
    • The Osnabrueck coach thought they were the better team for a majority of the game. To be honest I think they go outplayed nearly all of the game EXCEPT the last 15 minutes.
    • He was pissed, for good reason, about 1860 playing on instead of playing the ball out. Maurer defended Leitner as I thought he would by saying that the kid did not see the foul and was too far up the field to see what was going on.
    • Maurer looks like he LOST 1-3 instead of winning 3-1. I guess that is a good thing that he is not geting overly optimistic about a game that very nearly could have gone either way.
    • There were like 5 reporters in the room. You an hear the echo.
    Comments about the game:
    • Kiraly: Nearly pulled a Tschauner and allowed the first goal. But he did have a decent game after that...especially in the last 15 mins.
    • Rukavina: Played ok. I would have liked to see more attack from him but he did well.
    • Bell: What a difference he made. He made several long ground passes up field that hit their mark. He pushed up but knew when to come back. I like what he offered. Definately NOT the same as Ghvinianidze.
    • Buck: Looked okay in central defense. I think he started a bit uncomfortable there but I could see him really becoming a good central defender.
    • Uzoma: Well, he played outside left but got caught WAY too often too far up the left side. His passing was suspect but his challenges were solid. Unfortunately you always had the feeling it was just a matter of time before he was either 1) beaten so badly they scored, or 2) that he would lay in a clumsy challenge and give up a standard.
    • Leitner: Not as good as last week, but definately more offensive in the middle than Uzoma or Lovin have proven.
    • Stahl: Started out shaky (as did Leitner) but once he settled down he was solid. A bit weak towards the end (as was Leitner) and gave up too much ground. I think the 3-1 score line fooled both him and Leitner as they seems to relax a bit too much after that.
    • Aigner: He was hot and cold. Hot in his attacking, cold in his defending. The LoewenTV shotgun mic was right by the 1860 bench. You could hear Maurer screaming ALOT "Stefan, get back. Stefan, get into position." When you looked at him after attacking he was walking. Here is where I give Rakic credit...he noticed this and hustled back to cover for Aigner.
    • Bierofka: A solid game. Not the Biero of old but flashes of himself. The PK he drew looked a bit like a dive to me. A clumsy challenge, but the two-footed launching forward looked a bit contrived.
    • Rakic: Already covered in a previous post.
    • Lauth: Similar to Aigner. He was dangerous but seemed a step behind each play.
    • Halfar: He looked lost. Skillwise he was okay but his positioning just seemd to smack of not having enough games under his belt with this team...which is a true statement.
    • Ludwig: Came on and promptly put his head up his arse. His first two touches were just rookie mistakes...horrid to behold. His finish of the Rakic pass was nice. I bet Maurer has a word with him about showing up to play. He was asleep his first 10 mins on the pitch. I think the goal woke him up.

All I heard from Aigner was that he wanted to fulfill his contract. Earlier reports said he did not want to go.

I heard that we were asking 1.7m and Bobic said it is not worth the hassle.

Because you are exactly right. Leitner knows he has a bargaining position: 1860 need money, they can only sell players to make money, he knows that the longer he goes unsigned the more they will play him to up his value and then he can sign for 1860 and get sold elsewhere OR sign with whomever HE wants if he does not sign. It is a gamble for all. If Leitner plays them too long and loses form he will get shipped back to the U23s without a contract. If he keeps form but plays them too long he will piss off peoople (rightly or wrongly).

But you are right. The kid is 17 and it is his first pro contract. This is not rocket science if the kid TRULY wants to stay at 1860.
