Thought I would share this, Ramon is on a trial and scored a goal today in a friendly against Wakefield. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_6306861,00.html
Re: Ramon Nunez trialing for Leeds United [R] I saw that -- and they say Americans are bad at geography!
Re: Ramon Nunez trialing for Leeds United [R] i new he was trialing with leeds but did not know he scored a goal in a friendly thanks for the info edit lmao at Hungarian when i first came to the United States I told them I was from Honduras and they made the same mistake
Re: Ramon Nunez trialing for Leeds United [R] I know a bit about him being that he's from Dallas but obviously you all would know more. What would you say his preferred position is? Strengths and weaknesses? Has he been looking to move to Europe after stints at Olimpia and Puebla?
Re: Ramon Nunez trialing for Leeds United [R] well yes his goal was Europe...but recently his goal has been to finish college in Dallas. He's even thinking of taking a hiatus from futbol to finish his studies...but after the WC his intentions of moving abroad were loud and clear. his preferred position is attacking mid/winger. his strength is that he's fast, krafty with the ball..passes, dribbles etc. he has a cannon on his foot. he causes damage. His weakness...he has an ego and is kinda scrawnny. he sometimes forces plays and runs. all in all he'd be a good signing for Leeds.
Re: Ramon Nunez trialing for Leeds United [R] Strengths: Exceptional speed and passer. He knows how to push the pace and has great ball control He still has untapped potential. He grew up in the United States, so there is no language barrier for him. He should adapt to play quickly. Weakness: Tends to disappear from the pitch at times. I question his dedication to the game and can be a head case. His size is also a concern. With the physicality of play in England, this could hurt him. Overall Ramon has never really been in an ideal envirnment for him to truly grow as a footballer. His best opportunity to truly develop came when playing for 'Cruz Azul', one of the best clubs in Mexico. Unfortunately while there, he did not get along with the coach and frankly there were prejudices against him. I am not playing the victim card here, but Mexicans simply don't like us as Hondurans. They never have. The first opportunity they saw to bring Nunez down, they did and with a vengeance. While he can be a headcase at times, good coaching can easily mitigate that. After growing up in the United States, I think he had trouble fully adapting himself to the Honduran lifestyle. He truly did prefer to quit playing football, to having to play another season for Olympia. If you grew up in the United States, adapting to life in Honduras, Tegucigalpa in particular, can be very tough. I think playing for Leeds United will do him a lot of good. He will finally be given a fair shot to develop as a player and blossom. I sincerely think we have not seen the best of Ramon. During the World Cup he was arguably our best attacking midfielder. His potential is sky high. He truly would be an asset to a historic club like Leeds that wishes to return to its rightful place in the EPL.
This would be amazing if signed for leeds they are a big club but play in the 2nd tier or english football but are a team on the up. He would have a chance of getting into the team and making a diffrence if they sign him also i live in leeds so would be able to see him play every week.
Hey! I actually wrote an article about Ramon Nunez and Leeds.. Check it out on my blog http://honduran-football.blogspot.com/ Don't hesitate to PM me or e-mail me!
Your editorial comments leave a lot to be desired. A 'horrific' world cup by Nunez? What games were you watching? He could have done more but to describe his performance as 'horrific' is sadly misguided. Leeds is a VERY good team and an excellent choice for Nunez. I don't know why you think this is a bad pick for Ramon. The Championship league in England is much more competative then the Honduran First Division or the MLS. Leeds United has one of the most illustrious histories in all English Football. It would be an honor if one of our players ends up playing for this EXCELLENT club. Should Leeds United decide to make Ramon an offer, he will become a much better player for it because of the increased level of competition and better training.
this ^ Leeds only went down due to some horrible owner management. People seem to forget they produce some of the best talent in England...or the best talent in England. Great team, great staff. I wouldn't mind seeing Ramoncito get pushed to that next level.
The only players that played well in the World Cup were Valladares, Figueroa, O. Chavez and Palacios. These are the players that deserve spots on big teams. Everyone else had a mediocre World Cup and Espinoza, Ramon and Suazo were the worst ones. Trust me, Nunez at Puebla was perfect. They played him in the centre and he really showed what he was capable of. Just like his first season with FC Dallas... The rest of his coaches (including Rueda..) played him on the left and he's horrible. He tried to force plays and passes. His dribbing and first touch were good but his "through balls" or sad attempts at passing didn't create anything for Honduras. You can come on here and give your opinion, say he is a great player. But if you watch any of the games I'm talking about.. when played for Dallas, Puebla, in the World Cup, etc.. you can see exactly what I'm talking about. He's got loads of potential and that's why I think he should hold off, play a season with Olimpia and then take a better offer (they just send Lozano to Tottenham!) They have more connections and his career would be better. Going to Leeds on trial.. no contract.. that's sad. I'm not trying to insult Leeds fans either but I wish he didn't rush into a decision. He needs a great season this year. I wanted it to be at Olimpia... maybe it will be with Leeds, we'll see. But the point is, next year I want to see first-division football from this kid. Strengths: Dribbing, first touch, passing (when he plays his position), he doesn't add much depth in attack but he's a great source from midfield to strikers. Feeds well off of strikers that play deep and defensive midfielders that pick up the slack with his poor defensive skills. He does close down space though.. kinda like Modric. Weaknesses: His physical stature, aerial game, his inability to stay focused when he's playing bad, his stamina, his ego.
Tomorrow night might be Ramon's last chance to impress: http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20100817/transfer-listed-trio-set-for-reserve-trip_2247585_2125544 Ramon is not mentioned specifically in that article but I imagine he will feature as there was a friendly on Saturday in which he did not get to play.
leeds might of been great in its day but when was the last time this club won any thing? am just saying that your making it sound like its some like liverpool, manyo, chelski or arsenal..... but i agree it would be great if Ramon plays for Leeds.
1992 First Division champs and only 6-7 years ago they were Champions League semi-finalists. Leeds were the dominant English club in the 1970s as well. Everything changed after all the TV money got so big with the Champions League, the club mortgaged the future on the year over year success in the Champions League and the first year that didn't happen it all fell apart like a deck of cards. In terms of history and stature the club is every bit on par with the big 4. At the end of the day Leeds fans are among the most passionate in England; it would be a fantastic place for Ramon to break into Europe.
Do some research before making such ignorant comments. If you put together the history of all English football, Leeds is EVERY bit as prestigeous as the clubs you mentioned. Leeds has fallen on hard times as 'kool herc' broke down. If Ramon ends up playing for Leeds, he will have the opportunity to develop much more as a player then he ever could playing for Dallas FC, Olympia, or Pachuca.
