Officially you can only legally buy tickets to Dutch league games in the Netherlands. You officially need to register and get a club card first, and as far as I know you can only do that through the ticketbox network. You'll need to show a passport and hand over two passport photos. Once you have a club card you can buy a ticket at a ticketbox outlet (online at www.ticketbox.nl, at a random stadium on match day, or at a Primera bookshop any day of the working week, outlets across the NL). The bigger clubs typically have a high number of season ticket holders. That means that not a lot of tickets go on general sale, and for popular games, it's virtually impossible to get a ticket on general sale. So check with the club ahead of the game.

Alternatively: I think Ajax sell tickets to foreign fans as part of a travel & hospitaly package. You can probably find more info on their website. Feyenoord and PSV might do the same thing.

Alternatively: show up on match day and ask one of the fans if he's a season ticket or club card holder and would they buy a ticket on your behalf (you can buy four tickets on one club card). Dutch fans generally are very friendly to foreign visitors and won't have a problem doing you that favour.

Alternatively: get a club card holder you know in the NL to buy tickets for you in advance.

Alternatively: contact the football club directly, and well in advance, sound desperate and beg them for tickets.

  3. Look at the AZ site:

    http://www.az.nl/index.php?id=269

Click on the info button: For the Ol. match it says that it isnot clear yet if the UEFA is returning tickets. That is expected to be made public the 13th of november. In case there are tickets available they will be sold at the same time on line and in the Fanshop 16 november at 9:00 local time. That means that the available tickets for the AZ fans have been sold out. But you will have to find someone with an AZ club card to buy the ticket and if you want 2 tickets you have to find 2 clubcard holders.

For the VVV match there is no info available yet.

    Hey all-

If anyone can help me get four tickets to Ajax/Feyenoord on Sunday November 1, I will gladly pay your costs/profit. I know this is a longshot, but I'm looking for four together or two pairs. I can meet anywhere in Amsterdam and would really appreciate it! PM me!

That's going to be very hard, or actually pretty much impossible.

I've been to 2 games in Holland. For PSV I had to book the tickets well in advance and pay via a direct bank transfer from my account to PSV's. For all the trouble (and it was trouble, I also had to pay a $40 service charge because it was international) I got the tickets plus 40 euros or so to spend at the ground (for food, beer and in the team shop). For the Willem II match, I simply contacted their ticket office via e-mail and had the tickets left for me at the box office. I had a great time at each match.

Long story short: the big clubs make it difficult and you'll have to pay an arm and a leg & jump through a couple hoops. The small clubs are much more amenable. Go to a small club match. :)

Its as easy as you want to make it for PSV. I went last week against Vitesse. Went to the ground on Friday, walked into the club store, went up to a man shopping, explained that I needed a ticket. He was only too pleased to help so he went straight to the ticket office and got me a ticket for 21 Euros. No problem. I find most Dutch fans are only too pleased to help if you just ask.
I also did the same for Waalwijk v Willem on the Sunday. Contacted the club before I left for Holland and they said I couldnt have one because of 'security issues'. Again, I went to the ground on the Friday when I got there, walked into the Supporters Bar, asked a man there, and he did the same. Went and got me a ticket for 15 Euros. It really is that easy, they're a friendly bunch over there ;-)

Incidentally, Ive now visited 11 of the 18 Eredivisie grounds and never had a problem at any of them yet.
The ones I have left to visit are Groningen, Utrecht, Breda, Feyernoord, Sparta, Twente and Hercules.
I know an English fan living in Breda, I m hoping Johan Neeskens off this site can do me a favour when I visit Twente, and of the remaining five, I think the only problem might be Groningen. Unless of course, anyone knows different......lol.

that seems quite interesting. I plan on yearly visits overseas to hopefully attend some matches including one maybe in Holland. I am a little nervous to leave all to chance for when I arrive in town though.:)

All this info from this thread has been helpful though!

I understood that all home fans are season ticket holders and there are very few seats available for each game. I hope I am wrong lol

  12. Well, you still can go there and watch it in a bar. According to a survey the most beautiful students of the Netherlands study over there, so ....;)

Do you think the day before the match Ajax-Vitesse(21.02.2009) tickets will be freely available?

I went to an Ajax match in '06 but I had to get my ticket from Ajax Travel a few hours before kickoff. The day before I went for a tour of the ArenA and tried to buy a ticket. The guy selling tickets informed me that in order to buy tickets I needed a club card. I asked to buy a club card and was then told only people with a Dutch passport could buy one. He then informed me about Ajax travel and said they would sell me a ticket if any were left. For 40 Euro I got a ticket and an Ajax scarf.

Around 2 years ago I sent an e-mail about Herenveen tickets (to see Bradley) but they didn't sell any tickets to foreigners. I guess they either sell out or have strict selling rules.

In short, I think Eredivisie tickets may be difficult to come by legally. As with sporting events here in the States I'm sure there's plenty of scalpers and the pat down/inspection at the ArenA was no more severe than those done here in America.

Inspection in Holland isn't that severe. There's just no way they can check every single supporter going through the gates. It's a practical impossibility. The club card thing you really do need though I'm afraid. I guess that makes it quite impossible for foreign fans to buy tickets in advance. But like I said I think the bigger clubs sell package deals to tourists.

3 hours before the match I went to the booths, where the Dutch fan himself offered to help me buy a ticket using his fancard. I bought a ticket for 27 euros.

My brother's is going to see Ajax and he has brought a package which includes a tour of the training ground, a meal, meeting some ex-players etc, seems like a good package as you can make a day of it.

I was wondering how PSV Eindhoven do it when it comes to tickets especially when it comes to people not from the netherlands.

Well, I went to a PSV match 2 seasons ago : You have to request a number of tickets for the a game well in advance. Then, they contact you and let you know if that match is available. You have to pay via a direct bank account transfer and pick up your ticket package at a special office at Philips Stadium. All in all, it cost me over $200 American for a 2 ticket package (nosebleed seats, btw) - which included food and merchandise vouchers.

It was a bit of a pain in the ass. On the flip side: when I saw Willem II - I emailed their ticket office and was left 2 tickets at the ticket caravan in from of the stadium - I paid 20 euros in cash and had a wonderful seat.

I will be in Rotterdam in October visiting a friend and I would really like to see Feyenoord vs FC Twente. I haven't asked my friend if she has tickets but assuming she doesn't, what would be the best way for me to get them?
