I believe Amauri is a true power forward. I don't think he deserves to start every game; however, he needs to start when the opponent CBs are powerful more than finest. A true power forward will move the CB around him. If a CB can move the forward around, then the CB already won that battle. Look at the Azzurri WC10. Amauri needs playmaker around him... I see Balo at the Power Forward starter. I think he has strength as much as Amauri. He also can dribble, and cut and slash.... Balo can play many style, I hope. Playmaker: Rossi, Cassano: Starters. Amauri as a starter depends on the defense....
This is ridiculous. Amauri is not a "power forward". He is a sh!t foreigner who doesn't deserve a cap to Italy or any country for that matter. There are far more deserving, talented and actual Italian players that should replace him. For now I don't really care because he will play terribly (like he always does) and will never make it on the Euro squad.
I don't see what we lose by Amauri being called up for this friendly. He's either bad and doesn't get capped again, or good and offers something for the Azzuri in the future.
I don't get this argument. Firstly, I seriously doubt he will be a regular fixture over Gila/Pazzo, but regardless of this the euros are in 2 years where he'll be 32 (and that's not that old really). That's 2 years of qualifying matches and friendlies he can potentially be involved in, so he can offer something to the Azzurri in the future. I don't see what all the fuss is about to be honest, he had a poor year in a Juve side drained of confidence, but it's the start of a new season where none of the players on the team have demonstrated any form yet, so he should be given the benefit of the doubt. Amauri has something which few of our other strikers have: aerial presence, the ability to actually take a decent touch of the ball and good technique. When he's on form he's deadly, you don't score a goal like this without something special: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXGVtMzA-5A&feature=related"]YouTube- Palermo-Juventus - (Amauri Goal)‎[/ame]
It's just more Juve bashing. It's not that we have a ton of talent waiting in the balance at forward. Sure you can name a player here and there ...but I probably would have the same argument of not choosing those players over Amauri too. Out of all the forwards chosen from this friendly..he is the most in form. How else do you want Prandelli or any coach choose a squad ??
I agree with Forza. I am the last to support any juvemerda, but Amauri in present form would be a plus. Lippi has left a bad juve taste in many of our mouths, but we should not hold that against anyone who might be able to help our side even for a year or two.
I never made a fuss when Alessandro Birindelli got snubbed. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWfGYs2p_gA"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWfGYs2p_gA[/ame] I'm with Juventus until death, and I never was overly impressed with Amauri from now dating back to earlier with Chievo. Sure he's scored an impressive goal and shown a sign of brilliance here or there, but what professional forward hasn't? So many aspects people are failing to look at here, its a meaningless August friendly, for Prandelli ease into his role and try to regenerate national team love after a miserable few years. I highly doubt how a player performs next week will have any influence on Cesare's selections a year or two down the line regarding the EUROs (see 2006 August friendly vs Croatia). The whole anti-Amauri argument is valid in my eyes. Sure as a nation there hasn't been a big number of forwards shining, but Amauri at 30 is not what we need. Take a page out of the German or Spanish book, if it isn't crystal clear now that we need a clean slate with youth, then I give up. 27-28 years of age should be the cut off (GKs withstanding) or if there is a Pirlo type absolutely setting the world on fire, then that's fine. This new squad needs to be the anti-30+ squad littered with mediocre players on the decline. Please people give it up with the "in form" Amauri, he scored 2 goals against SHAMROCK ROVERS, if Amauri is in form then Bonucci is already in the running for Ballon d'Or and yes I watched both games. Bottom line is Amauri is mediocre at best, already at 30, its a new era folks, lets see the youth. I'd much rather see the attack revolve around Balotelli and I despise him. But he is the most talented forward in Italy and his skill set and potential is insane and I respect that. side note nothing personal but to all the fans who sang the tune of "why not give Toni, Inzaghi, Del Piero a call up, full of experience blah blah" time and time again post 2006, let's please not go down that "experience" route any longer with players of that ilk
Hahahaha. Two goals against amateurs, and all the sudden you're a world beater again. Ah, but who cares. As long as these two bros are on the field YEAH!!! Let the red-cards and over-expectations begin
everyone is bashing Amauri, because he's "not" Italian? Less Italian than Camoranesi? BUt why are people asking for THiago Motta? ISnt he in the same boat?? Look, the way I look at it, I dont care as long as we have a good, entertainint team that we could be proud of and who WINS!
I never doubted that Amauri has the ability to score a fantastic goal on occasion. He certainly is better on his feet than say Gialrdino or Pazzini and we have been lacking dynamic forwards of this nature lately. My argument is that even when Amauri was in good form, he was never world class. And now that he is 30 years old I have strong doubts that he is suddenly going to start scoring goals for Italy. I think Prandelli called him so that we can finally put the nail in the coffin.
Yeah, just so the FIGC could say 'See, we're finally with the times. Immigrants are part of the new Italy, in society and soccer'
Interesting times these are. Seems Prandelli has been testing this out: Viviano Motta - Bonucci - Chiellini - Molinaro De Rossi - Palombo Pepe - Cassano - Balotelli Amauri
From Practice this afternoon. 4-2-3-1 Viviano Motta, Bonucci, Chiellini, Molinaro De Rossi, Palombo Pepe, Cassano, Balotelli Amauri vs. 4-3-3 Sirigu Cassani, Astori, Lucchini, Antonini Lazzari, Montolivo, Marchisio Quagliarella, Borriello, Rossi DDR, just beat me to it.....but here is the other team he used... *Marchetti returned home due to hamstring problems and will be replaced by Mirante. .
Makes me tear up.. a little late for Amauri, but he and Miccoli would have made a hell of a combo in Africa. & a BIG FUKC YOU to the Amauri haters out there, you know who you are.. If he sucks so bad, why is the new coach toying with making him the spear point to our new attack even though he is past his sell by date?
Very true. I mean... They would not have touched the ball until the second half of the third match (and, truth be told, would probably have been benched by that point) but they would have at least been able to stomp their feet and throw their hands up in the air for all the crosses that went 30' over their heads (well, 32' in Miccoli's case) and that sorta thing.
Talking to you is like asking a dinosaur, "What's new?" If Miccoli, Amauri and Balotelli had been there.. we would have at the very least made it out of the first round and proven we are better than the MIGHTY NEW ZEALAND, the only unbeaten team of the tournament!
Nothing's new. Why don't you whip out your "Italy's Commemorative 2010 World Cup --In Defense of the Title--" dvd set and show me at what points in the first 2.5 matches they would have scored some goals.
