Following the resounding success of last season's Tipping/Table Prediction thread here's a new one to crown this year's new season! For those who don't know how this works it will be broken down into two parts: 1. Table Prediction: Very simply put, predict how the table will finish at the end of the Regular A-League season. Before the finals we can then look back at the person that came closest to a 100% prediction and laud them with spectacular fruit baskets and half-naked women (or men), that will cater to their every (almost every), need. Oh, and there'll be bragging rights as well. 2. Tipping Competition: One can also sign up for the Tipping Competition that will occur every week (continuing all through the Regular A-League season). Each week I will post the upcoming matches, previous results and current scoreboard for the Tipping Competition. It is your duty to simply tip a win or draw in all matches (the score is not necessary - just win/draw). Usually this format is easiest to do (example): Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory (neither side in bold would indicate a draw) Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory (Sydney FC in bold would indicate you've tipped them to win) Each week I will tally up every individual's points, and organise a scoreboard to keep track of our successes. The following criteria will be used: 3 points per correct tip; 0 points per incorrect tip; Users that miss out on tipping will receive the lowest score for that week; Users that miss out on 5 rounds of tipping will be removed from the scoreboard. Table Predictions and Tipping Competition registrations will close on August 4th, 2010 so register your interest in this thread (and no doubt it may be made into a sticky to boot ).
HAL Round 1 Season 6: Melbourne Heart v Central Coast Adelaide v Newcastle Perth v North Queensland Sydney v Melbourne Gold Coast v Brisbane bye: Wellington
Week 1 Melbourne Heart v Central Coast Adelaide v Newcastle Perth v North Queensland Sydney v Melbourne Gold Coast v Brisbane
Predicted Table at end of Regular Season Sydney FC Perth Glory Melbourne Victory Wellington Phoenix Adelaide United(using my heart not my head obviously Melbourne Heart --------------------- Newcastle Jets CC Mariners NQ Fury Gold Coast United Brisbane Roar
Hard year to predict, feel fairly safe that we'll be on top, really like the way Heart are doing things. Everything else is a bit of a crapshoot imo. Sydney FC Melbourne Heart GCU Perth Glory CC Mariners Wellington Pheonix --------------- Adelaide United Melbourne Victory NQ Fury Newcastle Jets Brisbane Roar
I agree with that. It's almost too hard to think of how the table will finish up, but like you I reckon Sydney will do the double: Sydney FC Wellington Phoenix Brisbane Roar Melbourne Victory Adelaide United Central Coast Mariners Gold Coast United Melbourne Heart Perth Glory North Queensland Fury Newcastle Jets It's just too difficult. I literally don't see anything more than 3 or 4 points between Adelaide and Perth this season - with 4 teams sharing points by the end at least. Round 1 Melbourne Heart v Central Coast Adelaide v Newcastle Perth v North Queensland Sydney v Melbourne Gold Coast v Brisbane
There you all go again - predicting the results weeks ahead before you've seen the teamsheets - its like you want to lose to me and El-Cap...
I'm going relatively unconventional here... Central Coast Mariners Sydney FC Melbourne Heart Adelaide United Perth Glory Melbourne Victory ----------------- Wellington Phoenix Gold Coast United North Queensland Fury Brisbane Roar Newcastle Jets I think it'll be pretty tight throughout most of the season, so it was a tough decision to work out some of the positions. I'm still not even very confident with that one.
CCM and Roar are enigmas at the moment - their seasons (Roar's more than CCM) depend on their Latin American imports firing. Similar with respect to new coaches @ AUFC and NQF - Straka has got his work cut out for him but arguably having a better coach is worth losing the talents of Robbie Fowler, Jacob Timpano and Jeremy Brockie Most sides appear to be treading water, Victory noticeably weaker, SFC doing renos, GCU and Welly having quiet ones. Only team stronger on paper appears to be Perth but I seriously do not rate Mitchell.
Will there be a crowd prediction component also?? As an aside, why is it that football fans both here and in Seppo-land seem so obsessed by crowd figures at MLS /HAL?? I've got the bug, its almost always the second question I ask after "so what was the score?" which I almost never have to, because I'm a tragic and I try to watch every game on Fox season 5 average of 9,776 with a total attendance of 1,329,779 I just hope we see an increase in the average, with Heart entering and each team hosting 15 games(up from 13 or 14 last season), its almost a certainty that the total fan number will rise
Now Roar have fixed their ticketing fiasco and might be threatening to play some good football and GCU can't get any worse we might see the average repair a little.
I can only see MVFC maybe getting smaller crowds this year - and not by much if any. Perth will definately have a larger crowd, Heart should be around 10,000 at least, Roar, GCU, CCM and Jets were surely all at bottom last season, Fury should keep slowly building hopefully, Adelaide and SFC steady or up slightly and realistically Wellington should boom so we should get back above the 10,000 average easily IMO.
Hmmmm- ok here's my ladder. Sydney FC Gold Coast United Melbourne Heart Adelaide United Central Coast Mariners Wellington Phoenix Brisbane Roar Melbourne Victory Perth Glory North Queensland Fury Newcastle Jets When does Week 1 kick off?
because we want to see the A league succeed over more dominant codes. Funny thing is, i went to a waratahs match in the pouring rain a few months back and the crowd annonced was 15K, and having been to a dozen or so syd fc games last season i have to say i found that 15K figure very hard to believe... only the members stand was crowded... pre sale tickets included as well? just wondering... anyway Sydney FC heart nix glory mariners victory gold coast adelaide roar fury jets Sydney and Heart strongest on paper, but that doesn't mean much sometimes.... the rest is a muddle of mediocrity IMO, with little to get chuffed about...
My ladder: - Sydney FC - Melbourne Heart - Gold Coast United - Wellington Phoenix - Perth Glory - Adelaide United - Brisbane Roar - Melbourne Victory - Central Coast Mariners - Newcastle Jets - North Queensland Fury
