I think he deserves his own thread here!!! Have to admit I didn't even know that much about him before this tournaments since I neither watch Bayern (not even the CL final) nor most friendlies of the German NT. I'm smarter now. Definitely one of the most intelligent players I have seen. And I'm going to translate that Süddeutsche article next week.
Incredible achievement for someone of his age with just one season of top-level football behind him. Major props.
Mmn one reason for his success generally is that he is already married and he feels safe with his wife. So please make sure that all the Germany players got married before the next Euro.
something tells me he wouldn't have come to 'Mizzou' anyway. keep your chin up, plenty of fish out there in Mizzou.
i kno, and she is beautiful! lucky guy! true. 'Mizzou' is a one of a kind kinda place, but i'd totally move to Germany! but it's ok... i hav an awesome bf! but i still hav a major crush on thomas. i'm sure he'd b flattered that a girl from Missouri is in love wit him!
What a dream year for him! His name's going on my away trikot. Of course I have a Barren one already.
I hope he won't become typical german who plays the best football for the national team and scores 3 goals during the season. Good luck Thomas.
Ditto. However, his ability to move in open space, his team attitude, and his nose for the goal, makes me believe that he will do much more than Lukas Podolski has done.
I am guessing that getting engaged at 17 would not be legal. So far two Germans have won the young footballer of the year. Beckenbauer in 1966 and Podolski in 2006. Lets all hope that Mueller goes the way of the former and becomes a legend in his own right.
Sorry for the digression: getting engaged is not legally binding. But most countries (mostly from the sub continent) have legislature that prevents engagement before the age of 18, because the law considers the boy/girl incapable of deciding on a life partner and more often than not, these marriages which are fixed before the boy/girl reach 18, in which the boy/girl don't have much of a say. Back to topic: Thomas Mueller is the 16th Mueller to play for Germany/West Germany. Couldn't find out how many Mueller's have played for the erst while East Germany.
Nah, he has already done more at club level than Podolski ever has so I have no worries. Mueller is confident in himself and his abilities and is enjoying himself on the pitch. Things in his private life seem to be sorted out and that's important for player's mental approach. Future is bright for him.
The thing is Muller is so self critical, after missing the chance in the CL finals, Many players would have blamed the pass, the shape of the ball, the state of the field, the floodlight, JulioCesars jersey or even vuvuzela but Muller took the heat on himself and learnt from it. When he bagged the yellow card vs Argentina, even though a bad call he got over it in 10seconds and went on with the game in a great spirit. I also noticed after Germany's second goal vs Argentina when Klose went to celebrate, Muller ran after him but realising Poldi who made the assist wasnt there, Muller went to bring in Poldi(Who was probably feeling like a Greek god) to join the celebration. I know I am gushing over Muller but I cant help it, Its so hard to fault the attitude and personalty of the boy. Right now everyone might be creaming over Ozil and Kroos as the best in this generation but give me Mullers industry and attitude anyday
I agree. Mueller, because of his attitude and productivity, is right up there in my opinion. I really hope he stays this way. If he does we have a lot to look forward to.
