Only a great counterattacking team? Common man, don't embarass yourself.
People who say this have only seen the game against Argentina and England.
Did you see their games vs Australia, Serbia, Ghana?
And even in the former two games, they soaked up the pressure, sure. But they didn't just attack on the break, there was so much more than counterattack.

Argentina have great players, but this is a team sport. If you look at world cup history you'll see that Germany has had more success in terms of number of World Cups won, and number of finals reached.

Germany deserves to win this tournament, but I will root for Uruguay.
And no matter what, Spain must not win.

The only team that deserves to win the tournament are the ones who win the final. :)

I think only the Dutch can stop these Germans. And no, I don't think Spain can.

Why must Spain not win? I want a Holland - Spain final.

    Why not Spain?

I hope Uruguays team bus breaks down. Suarez deserves to play in the world cup final like Hitler deserves to coach the Isreali national team.

before you speak about a game you should at least watch the game and have your lager later. In the game you can see when klose goes up in the air and hits Argentina's goalie a world inter- club champion with Boca Junior Abondancieri with a knee to the back, in the air: and when he lands on the ground he jams his fist on the side of his liver, Abondancieri gets up to serve the ball and then collapses do to the late effect of the punch; which forced the Argentine team to use a second rate goalie and loose on PKs.
don't believe everything every thing you hear after drinking your lager.

Cheating is part of any sport.

With the World Cup Finals, cheating is always there, except that as a rule people perceive cheating or fail to perceive it based on cultural similarity.

Hence, a Dutch is less likely to see a German dive, while a Chilean is less likely to see an Argentinian handball.

Pretty much like it is in the real world, anyway.

An absolute beautiful performance by the Germans - clinical, determined (that second goal assist coming from a player laying on the pitch), uniformed... it was impressive to see them move down the pitch as a single unit.

    They've defined the 'beautiful game'.

Spain's defending is functional. So far, they've had to defend only once, versus Chile, and against 10 men.

While Spain's defense is miles above Argentina's, I don't think it reaches the solidity shown by the Germans and the Dutch.

Only the 4:0 was after a counter attack.
    1:0 after a set piece
2:0 and 3:0 after normal attacks

Come on, during the attack which lead to the 3:0 even Higuain was back to defend.

Yep it was clinical. It's sad that a side which could have played equally the same, couldn't manage anything. The Germans destroyed Argentina.
Perhaps, this is could be good for Argentine football, an embarrassment of this magnitude. If 4-1 to Brazil in the Copa isn't enough to consider some changes to go for excellence.

I'm glad though we won't be seeing the failure players of 2002, 2006 and 2007 back in the next world cup. They were poison.

Did anyone notice Argentina was done after 60min?? they were lookin really slow and tired.. on the otherhand Germans were flying with so much energy.

I think thats the key to Germans doing so well in this tournament, their fitness coach and how they prepare their players for tournament type games.

The 4 goals kind of remind me of Bayern's CL run. They scored 4 goals against Juve, Fiorentina, Man U, and Lyon.

Germany were simply smart, like Barca and Spain, they know how to optimize their movements and save energy that way. It's not about having some physical advantage, just being smarter, that's all.
