Germany will be favorites no matter who they play in the semifinal. I still think that if we beat Paraguay that our midfield would be able to control the game versus Germany. What the game would hinge on is whether we could control Germany's counterattack.
I dispise Maradonna with every bone in my body, but I'm proud of their team for not going out like punks like Brazil did yesterday. I fully expected cheap shots to be taken at Germany at 3-0, but they kept it clean. Good job. With that said, I'm a Spanish supporter (after the USMNT of course) and I'm scared to death that they have to face Germany if they win today. Germany is firing on all cylinders and look damn near unbeatable.
We were also 9 minutes from moving on. It's funny because the tying goal of 2006 was the same spot that was the first goal this year. I don't think they were necessarily a better team, but they definitely got their ass kicked by a better coach. The shots on goal Argentina took were weak, they were all hobbles right to keeper. Zero effort by the forwards. Messi was useless, he didn't turn up when we needed him. They tried to run, they tried to push, they tried to challenge but it's all examples of Maradona's poor fitness levels for his team and poor formation and players. The players that were on the field individually are equally to the German players, but just are were no match on this day against them. The Germans are finding their strides, but there's still Spain.
I think he's talking about the "ballboy" incident. If you weren't aware, Maradona refused to sit down with Mueller and talk to the press after their recently friendly match. Called him a "ballboy" and was insulted by him.
the subsequent road is tougher this time so there's less to lose. and the fact we can blame the right back for this loss, is better than having no one to blame
I meant because Maradonna refused to have a press conference with Mueller in March because he didn't know who he was.
ESPN mentioned before the match that the whole incident was embellished and never happened. I'll have a look online to see if I can confirm that.
oh k , sorry about the mixup , didnt know about the muller-maradona incedent and figured u meant something else by the 3 midfielders , my bad
Didn't BRA shoot at goal 1 minute before end yesterday? I think BRA went down same as ARG today. When they started losing they started forcing the goal with outside shots, forced passes etc. Just like yesterday with Kaka Messi became invisible when he was most needed.
England gave Germany a better game in terms of actually scoring goals espeically when it would have been 2-2. Although Argentina passed the ball very well. They just did nothing with it. So maybe England aren't QUITE as crap as everyone back home is saying.

i'm glad for Klose i hope he will score atleast one goal in the semifinal or 3rd place game/final.Two goals will make him a legend i don't know if in the near future a player will score 16 goals in world cups
Maradona had no answers other than to call for a card to be given after every challenge. I was watching Univision, and he had a fan in Chilavert who was saying the same thing. I hope he will allow someone competent and experienced to take over now, because they obviously have some great talent that deserves better. I thought Messi, Higuain, and Tevez did well, although the defense marked well individually and got back in numbers. I think Argentina needed more support from the midfield to sustain the pressure of the big three. That's where Schweinie really dominated. They closed down so well on the ball carrier, and were hardly challenged in possession themselves. Surely Argentina has better midfielders available than this. Master class performance Germany! Una verdadera goleaaadaa!!

great game germany...this team is growing from strength to strength...the last time i saw a team like this was in 2002 with brazil (that team was a monster). sorry for argentina fans, maybe now the AFA will appoint bielsa or someone with a tad more tactical nous.
ESPN was probably talking about the back and forth commentary between Maradona, Lahm, and Schweinsteigger.
