Exactly, lets wait until they get tested by Paraguay.

I don't even think there were special tactics to shut down Messi. This German team have a collective mentality and when EVERY player is in sync with the coach and his philosophy, this scoreline reaps that benefit.

Again though, this philosophy is how they do things in Germany from youth level on up.

Yes. Impossible to beat? If we played a more defensive minded position and used tactical precision like the German coach did, it would probably still be 0-0.

After 20 minutes we were doing good, no German threat. How were they impossible to beat? We did farely well, until we imploded, which I blame entirely on Maradona's lack of organization.

82' 0-3 An eye-popping "little detail" -- in full break, at speed, Germany (#8 Mesut Özil?) receives at 30m right edge in a 2-v-3. Flicks a quick diagonal pass to #11 Miroslav Klose just outside box top right, closely marked in a 1-v-1. Klose instantly delivers Puyol's one-touch back-heel into a void behind Argentina's left flank -- but #13 Thomas Müller did not make David Villa's run, and is still 1 mowed stripe behind Klose. Klose shrugs, Müller mutters at himself, then claps his hands above his head: Gut pass --

I knew Germany had a powerful offense, but Germany's defense looked so much better than I expected them to be.

Nice stomp Messi. Completely unintentional, he was trying to miss the first leg. and got the one he didn't see.

Nice shot Messi. But it looks like he'll leave scoreless.

Something I mentioned in the Argentina boards is how unbalanced the talent in Argentina is. Nearly all the top-notch Argentina players are attackers. And the best defenders (Zanetti, Samuel) are not even there.

Tevez, Di Maria and Messi have worked so that someone else can score. That someone else is an error: Pipita does not score in big games.

Sure, that's easy to pull a Greece when you're up 1-0 for the entire game.

They're a great team, front to back.

And they attack attack attack. They do not play a defensive minded game even though they have a great defense.

So nice to see one of the most exciting and attacking teams in the tournament is actually able win with that style, instead of the cynical crap that has invaded the sport to the point that even Brazil plays more defensively than offensively.

Not impossible, but the way they are playing extremely difficult. They were at their best today. We met our match today, and they were better. It sucks but you have to accept it.

We have a lot of young talent, we'll be back.

Maradona squandered one of the most talented attacking units of recent years with his absurd roster decisions.
