I agree with this thread. I think the time for him to take over is now. I do think Bob did a good job, I don't like coaches to stay more than 4 years though.
The danger in all the Klinsmann mess from a few years ago is word gets around. We might not be ABLE to hire a top quality foreign manager if they feel they can't deal with Sunil and the Gang at USSF. We might be "stuck" with Dom or another American coach.
I think Dom could be a good coach for the US. Personally though I don't think Bradley (or a US coach in general) is necessarily the problem. The problem is lack of player development. How about instead of Klinsman for coach we hire Klinsman to replace Sunil. Then maybe we can finally improve the state of futbol in the US.
As an assistant? Not the time for American coaches who will not change a thing or attract talent with dual citizenship.
Enough with American Coaches or MLS coaches: Sampson Total Failure ( I was in France in 98 only to see the US lose all 3 games) Bruce Arena Total Failure (2006) Bob Bradley (Line up for Ghana inexcusable) On the other hand Bora (Serbian) Great Run in 1994 especially with no American Soccer league.. put together a rag tag team that managed to lose to Brazil a power house only 1-0) I say give a non-MLS or American coach a chance.. we cannot do worse.... Klinsmann on paper looks good (speaks English very well, played and coached at the highest level for Germany a very well respected nation for soccer.
Klinsmann is one of the few foreign coaches I wouldn't mind having. I still would prefer an American. I just don't know who would be the right man for the job. Maybe Arena deserves another chance, he certainly is showing his quality at LA.
please no more american coaches unless they have experience in the big european leagues. the EPL, la liga, etc are the premiere leagues for soccer/football globally who spend hundreds of millions of dollars annually for the best players and staff. you'd think if there was a promising coach, they'd go out and hire him. we cant go get the best players in the world but we can get the best coaches to help develop the ones we have and hopefully make them into some of the best in the world.
A mechanical, direct style? Check. Emphasis on 'athlete' vs talent? Check. Emphasis on "size" vs skill on the ball? Check. Has affinity for the "Scottish Vision" of the game? Check Amiable guy who makes the Good ol' Boys in Chicago House so very comfortable? Check. Heck, no, I ain't gonna take that bet.
If we want to progress, we need someone who values technical football development. No Scottish/English style. Do we want to go the way of England or Germany/Spain?
I've understood that a big issue with signing Klinnsman was money - USSF couldn't afford a couple million a year. I know there were threads here on that; I can't provide details. So, I'm wondering if the USSF can capitalize on this great run, sign/increases sponsorships to raise more money. I also think that with the right marketing USSF will see big USMNT crowds for future games. In fact, the Brazil game in August could provide enough $$ to pay a big name coach for a year.
Louis Van Gaal. Wait a year and get Louis. He has repeatedly said that he wants to coach a NT as soon as possible. There's even a clause in his contract at Bayern that says he will be able to leave the club for an NT if he wishes. It's not extremely likely but there is definitely a possibility. Of course, in my world Hiddink would be coaching the USMNT.
When I saw this thread title on MyBigSoccer it was cut off before Dom Kinnear's named appeared. So I assumed that the thread was actually going to be about USSF retaining Bradley for another four years. I think this says something about my level of confidence in the USSF.
I bet my dollar he won't be chosen as USMNT coach. When next coach is selected i'll give you my Paypal account so you can send your dollar to me.
This is very interesting. Van Gaal is a prickly guy who probably wouldn't deal well with Soccer House. But his system is that of high-tempo, attacking play that relies on robust physical ability that we know we have. Adding to that, if anybody can chisel out roles for our more cultured passers like Feilhaber and Torres in the midst of the "athletes", it's him.
From a neutral perspective you improved tremendously from 2006 to 2010. Coaches are always the scapegoats, I don't understand why some US fans can't recognize his accomplishment simply because he's not a big name or a "Euro coach".
