England and Mexico got robbed by lines men today I think it's time FIFA looks into instant replay or something like this for these type of plays, because if anyone here has ever played a game where a ref robs you, it really demoralizes the team and affects the rest of it. As much or more then a missed penalty
analisis? esta cabron....one gift by the linesman, one by Osorio and one by Aguirre(bofo) Ill never forget seeing both the linesman and the referee looking at the replay on the stadium screen, then trying to listen to something being said on his ear piece...and then deciding to make the goal legit.
Where's all the guys on here that wanted to play Argentina? Probably complaining in some other thread... Argentina got the gift from the ref BUT they did outplay Mexico throughout the game. If anything the breakdown Mexico had after that goal (mental? poor attitude?) hurt even more. Osorio choking up the ball was the dagger that did the team in. Mexico needs to start sending more players overseas. They just always seemed a step too late and a pass too soft to cause any real problems. Thankfully Hernandez's goal allowed them to at least hold their heads up a little, but this one hurts a lot.
Mexico had good moments (Salcido's shot that hit the post comes to mind) prior to the gol, i just dont think they were as often as Argentina's. They had played them well up until that point, but once the controversy with the goal started they took a step back. Fouls committed are usually a good indicator of what team struggled throughout the game, and Mexico had many.
The same thing once again we started off great, we were unlucky with Salcidos post and then Guardado missed his shot. Tevez scored offside and then Osorios mistake cost us the game, When mexico starts losing it almost impossible to win and the 3rd goal killed us! The mistakes Aguirre made was to start off with Bofo instead of Barrera and then instead of putting Guille, Vela should have came in and Cuathemoc deserved to have played some minutes!
I think every DT in this WC has been questioned at one point or another, but you have to wonder what Aguirre did some very stupid choices.
I frankly thought it would be much worse(Mexico). With the exception of Osorio , the team played well. The Argentinians got a few breaks and they cashed in. The Argentinian side isn't as talented as I had thought. Chicharito did really well burning their defenders, also Salcido would give them serious problems each time he went down the field. The Mexican team impressed me even if we lost. The Ref job was unfortunate but I think the main ref was ultimately a good ref, the main ref was considering calling back the goal and then someone spoke into his earpiece. Tough luck for us...................
I'm officially on the "Fuck Aguirre" bandwagon. He cost us the Uruguay game and his poor decisions today at the beginning were too much to overcome. Had we started with the utes, we may have stood a better chance. We were obviously not the better team, but we're not as bad as we showed today. Can't believe how much composure we lost when the linesmen messed up the call. That is inexcusable. These guys are professionals and you have to weather shit like that and try and fight back. They lost it.
I noticed one thing during the course of the game. I think it wasn't until the second half that Mexico had control of the ball inside of the 18-yard box. Everything before that had come from shots outside of the box. Sure it's easy to blame the linesman, Osorio, and Aguirre, but Mexico were outplayed. After the 3rd goal, Maradona is like "alright, let's think about Germany" and takes out Tevez and just tries to see out the game. The positives Mexico can take out this World Cup: the young ones and you didn't play bad today, Argentina are just better.
Very sensible analysis, it's true, this game was out of our hands whether that ref calls it fair or not, and osorio was just being osorio, that guy is still part of the old type of mexican soccer player that suffers from a mental inferiority complex. If you can rescue positives, it's Chicharo.. he's going to be the man if he works hard and is given an opportunity to succeed in ManU, Guardado.. he is a player that has potential and has grown since his performance in 2006. If Mexico get's their act together right now, they have a good shot to be a contender in 2014, otherwise.. more of the same.
If anything, that offside goal showed a huge weakness in the Mexican team - a glaring mental frailty that just always seems to ruin their chances. Look at the way the game was played out. Argentina did not dominate that game the way a world-class team should dominate a "minnow" or even a mediocre team. 50% possession both ways, Mexico had better passing accuracy in the second half, same amounts of shots on goal. Argentina had wonderful opportunities, no doubt, but if we're judging them at a world-class level (like they should be), then they were definitely made to look beatable by Mexico. So what's the problem? When the offside goal happens, everything goes to absolute shite. I don't give two craps if the goal doesn't count - a WINNING TEAM plays THROUGH that garbage. The moment Argentina scored, I felt like Mexico was going to lose their spark, and they sure did. From Rafa's immediate yellow to Osorio's idiocy, it just showed to me that they were completely destroyed mentally. I don't care how much skill you have on the ball, if you can't compose yourself and maintain the game plan, you are not going to win. I don't accept the logic that if that goal had been correctly called offside, it would have been a different game. That may be true, but it's naiive to say that calls will always be correct. If Mexico ever wants to be a world class team, they need to get over these infuriating mental breakdowns, and instead of whining against a call that everyone knows was wrong, they work TWICE as hard to get back on the field and prove their damn worth. They have the skill to succeed already - just look at this game. There was nothing there that convinced me that Argentina is miles ahead in terms of skill on the ball, vision, or technique. I don't know how you teach mental fortitude, but that is the biggest key that this frustrating team is going to have to learn to ever succeed on the big stage. /rant
Wait, I'm not done ranting. The big positive is that the young guns didn't seem to fold under pressure like the older guys who are more than likely on their way out. Chicharito stepped up big time, and showed why he is a possibly good replacement for Tevez at ManU. Gio kept doing what he always does frustrating defenses, and Barrera showed he should be a damn starter. I hope these young kids never learn this "inferiority complex" from the older guys, because it is seriously holding this team back. I know the kids won a World Cup at the youth level, and it's a strong sign that these kids know how to win, and they put mental barriers aside. I just hope that come next Cup, our young kids mature into prime performers who know how to play under pressure.
I don't know how you can say that Argentina outplayed Mexico. If you look at the stats we possesed the ball more, took more shots, and i believe we also had more corner kicks. The bad call the ref made is what did us in. The mentality of ANY team is different when they are down and even worse when it is unjust. Osorio shoul have never even set foot on the field. Why not Hector Moreno? And Bofo? Bofo?!! Really? Some bad lineup decisions, big mistake from the ref, and a huge mistake from Osorio is what did us in. As far as the game goes we had as much a chance to pull it off as Argentina did. Now we wait another four years. In my opinion next WC is when we can realistically believe we will get passed the fourth game. A lot of young talent that can only and will only get better. Juarez, both Dos Santos brothers, Vela, Chicharito, Barrera, Moreno, and so on.
Senior Aguirre : 0 Argentina/Referee : 3 https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=20988204#post20988204 I wrote this after 1st group match! Why you let play Osorio in center back?! He is dribbling to much, better he would be right defense or in the front of the defense. Guillermo Franco is an artist, not a Football player! I don`t like him, because he is doing nothing for Mexico! Andres Guardado must play left winger not in center! Torrado is not a playmaker, Bautista is flop go home! Giovanni Santos 1-men show without results! He is dribbling 50 meters but no finish not goal, because any teamplayer is support him. But the referees today was miserable, i think if the first goal was not given by referee Mexico would bring the match to the penalties. 2005 and 2006 was more quality in this Equipo! Mexico must rebuild a new team with professionel players...
Argentina did an excellent job of snuffing out the cutback lanes for both Gio and Guardado. That took a lot out of the offense today.
Argentina had more possession although only marginally; they both had the same number of shots on goal while Mexico had more corners. The fact that Mexico dominated possession in the midfield doesn't mean they did it overall. I thought it was a pretty entertaining match to be honest, Mexico aiming to control the midfield and Argentina sticking to a rather cautious 442 that brought us good results in the last year. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/statistics/matches/round=249717/match=300061502/index.html
It may sound like pure complaining and sour defeat, but simply put when your team gets done in first by a linesman and then later by one of its own players it's hard to accept your team bowed out giving it all it had to offer on the field and the better team won. The bigger tragedy is that the integrity of a sport is being constantly marred and possibly setting itself up for its downfall all because a few people's stubborness to not tackle a glaring problem within the game in a serious manner. Teams will bow out of more tournaments on bad calls, the best team will rarely be crowned champions and ultimately fans will walk away from the game.
^^^ yeah i get you i laughed at England's defeat today, but they got screwed big time that goal of their's that got called was the tying goal and could have changed everything same with us, that bullshit goal should not have counted and it would have still been 0-0 when we were playing slightly better oh well, the past is said and done
