Whitlock continuing tread of writing about things he has no clue about and using false statements to try to make his point (see his Star editiorals the last few months for further reference) http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/...over-algeria-no-miracle-jason-whitlock-062410
I agree wtih his general idea about the goal and it not having the "upset" factor of the Miracle on Ice, but the way he gets to that idea shows ignorance and stupidity.
To paraphrase, some people think Whitless is a clueless rabble rouser so he opens his pie-hole to remove any and all doubt. "I don't hate soccer..." = "Some of my best friends are ......" Yeah, right. Stick to American football Jason, it's the one thing you seem to know something about. Wanker.
Not sure where I heard it, think it was ESPN, it was not the miracle on ice or even the most important American goal, but the most dramatic. Most dramatic, probably agree with that. The fact that he is even writing about the sport astounds me and that may be a good tihng, I am not sure.
Sports reporters ought to report on all sports (and respect each). No one really needs the opinion on the significance of the game or its popularity. Appreciate the game for the game, regardless of the venue. It could be worse, you could have to read something Jack Harry would write.
I at least get the feeling that Harry respects the game when he talks about it, I don't get that from Whitlock.
http://www.sportingintelligence.com...r-greatest-ratings-day-in-soccers-tv-history/ Nice little article about the game today making a good run at becoming the most watched soccer game in US history.
How is the "home team" decided? I.e., who gets to call the coin toss? Maybe they decide with a coin toss?
It's defined in the rules of the competition.. I THINK (can't look right now) that the top-of-bracket team is always the home team.
why wasnt the foul that got PK a red? Seemed to be exactly what a is a red in the laws for a goal scoring oppurtunity we played pretty bad, starting line up was questionable and we failed to have a forward score the entire tourney. then you look at Ghana, who actually have forwards who can finish..
*raises hand* I will say, though, as much as I hate Bornstein and get scared when he plays, he actually did quite well today. He was left on many an island and still held his own. Maybe he's turning the corner. As much as I love Herc, why put him in for Jozy? Granted, he's good on the ball, but that leave us with no target forward when we start dumping balls into the box. I don't always get Bradley.
