I see this going 7. Celtics take 2 of 3 at home, then Lakers win game 6 to force game 7. Going to be well into World Cup time, dammit. The wife is going to have issues with my sports viewing habits over the next month.
The World Cup doesn't really start until June 26th (R16). The NBA Finals won't go past June 17th (potential game 7).
Yeah - Celtics winning all 3 at home is really unlikely - this scenario sounds pretty plausible although I could see the Celtics losing 2 at home too and winning game 6.
Lakers have to win game three of four though. They are not going to win gave five if they are on the brink of losing the series entirely.
I agree with this and will take it one step further - I think if the Lakers lose tonight then the Celtics will be celebrating another title after game 5. The funny thing is, I have always disliked Garnett, Allen, and Pierce. Garnett forever got under my skin with his howling and barking and basically immature BS back in the days when Timmy and the Spurs were dominating him. I lost respect for Allen because of his constant cyring when he had to play against Bruce Bowen (and conversely gained respect for Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki for the way they handled the same issue). And Pierce I always thought was overrated, but you have to give him credit for staying with an awful team for so long, and of course, the 2008 finals. Most importantly, however, is that I dislike the Lakers so much I am virtually Boston's biggest fan right now. I want a 4-1 demolition.
Game 3 is big. If LA wins tonight, which I think they will pull off then they'll steal another one in Boston. If not they'll still get one and force Boston to come to Kobe's house with him facing elimination, which I'd like the Lakers chances. The Lakers have lost 3 times in a row once in the past 3 years... You guys relize that right? There isn't a team in the world that could beat LA 4 times in a row and that's what Boston has to do to win it in Boston. Also the Celtics are a much better ROAD team than they are a HOME team... And can I just point out this -- The Lakers last 5 playoff series and where the WON the series at -- @Denver, @ Orlando ( For the Championship ), @ OKC, @ Utah, and @ PHX. Yeah, Um pretty sure the Lakers know how to win when it's really important. Go Lakers!
Ditto - but I feel like the championship is probably a coin flip - we should just fast forward to game 7 with 1 minute left and see who makes more big shots.
I have a feeling this will never get to seven games. Right now I feel like Boston in five or LA in six.
I think Boston is more likely to win the next three than LA is to win two of the next three. Both are unlikely though.
I don't have a dog in this fight and don't care who wins but I think I'd be hilarious if Pierce's arrogant prediction of the series not returning to L.A. would still become a reality.
I can't remember Ray Allen ever looking so bad. What a historically bad performance. And I don't really think the Lakers defense had much to do with it - they just chased him around screens like every other team in the league. Allen couldn't throw it in Boston Harbor last night.
That was an awful game on both sides last night. The Lakers were lucky that Fisher transformed into Magic Johnson last night and the Celtics were lucky that the Lakers couldn't close the game in the mid 3 quarter. I was expecting the Celtics winning last night but the Lakers lead throughout the whole game except for the first 6 minutes of the game. Game 4, I expect the Celtics win by 10 because the refs will give them more calls. I'm hoping the Lakers steal game 5 and end the series in 6.
Called it! LAKE SHOW baby! Lakers will win game 5 as well, and then be poppin' Champange Game 6. Let's go Lakers!
I'm a Yankees Fan in Los Angeles. Doesn't matter where you live. I do give that guy mad props for being a Laker fan in that town though. That takes big balls with those crazy Mormons.
