Probably just hearsay, but someone on the RSC Anderlecht message board mentioned the price was 3.5 million. Don't remember if it was dollars or Euros. Either way its a big sum.

    Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht

    Hi,

i'm from Belgium and I'm a RSC Anderlecht fan !
The news of Sacha came as a surprise for us ... We were expecting Skikabala (Egyptian International) to join us. There wasn't even a rumour about Kljestan. Is it a done deal ? (our manager wasn't even in the USA but in Spain)

will he have chances in the team ?

I don't know. we got some good players in our midfield and we don't have a clou how good Sacha is.
Biglia (is one of our best players, and plays as an offensive midfielder), Polak (Czech international) and Kouyate. These 3 will normaly be our starting midfield next year.
We've transfered Van Damme to Wolverhampton (midfielder). But Sacha is a more offensive midfielder and Van Damme played defensive midfielder when Polak was injured.

On the Anderlecht forum we are a bit sceptic about the your Chivas player. we know nothing about him and can't rate how good he is.
Can you guys tell us something more about him ?

    -----------------Lukaku--------------
    Boussoufa-----------------Legear/Suarez

    ----------biglia(Marecek/Kljestan)----------
    -----------Polak---------Kouyate----------

    Deschacht--Juhasz--Mazuch--Gillet/Wasilewski
    ------------------Proto-------------------

This is the best guess for our starting line-up next year! (about the dark players i'm sure)

Lukaku : 17 year old super talent, he looks a bit like Drogba...
Boussoufa : He's the brain of the team, but the chances are high he'll leave for 10 milion euros. Can Sacha play left forward/midfield ? maybe we transfered him to replace Boussoufa
Legear: He got the speed to hurt teams
Suarez: He's one of our most talented youngsters, technical player
Biglia : He's the favourite of the fans, his flair and style are amazing.
Marecek: Young talent we bought last year
Polak : Nice player, but isn't always focused to play "little" matches
Kouyate : A youngster with a great future ahead, has incredible power

Defenders are moderate to good players...

    greetings from Belgium

Friendly warning, just avoid the USA NT analysis thread when looking for stuff about Kljestan. They love to hate him on big soccer.

This is a very good comprehensive article on him where he talks about his strengths and what not:
    http://www.thisisamericansoccer.com/us-mens-national-team/well-see-about-sacha/#more-3198

I think we're all skeptical about this as well as Sacha suffered a very big drop in form after his Celtic transfer saga but he appears to be turning the corner. I don't think he's quite at Lucas Biglia's level by any means; though I could see Biglia moving onto a "bigger" club at some point no? From all I've read about Biglia, he is very highly thought of across Europe.

Great news. If he's able to tighten up his game Kljestan has great potential.

First off, welcome to the site. we always love it when we hear from the fans of the clubs our yanks go to :). I would describe sacha's best attribute as creative through balls and passing. His main weakness is that he turns the ball over too much and doesnt always leave his impact on a game. Hope that helps somewhat.

Biglia could definitely play for a bigger club in the future... My guess is that he'll join an European subtop club in the next 2-3 years.

    Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht

His first 4-5 seasons in MLS were pretty similar to Eddie Gaven's. Tear it up the first 2-3, have your stock plummet all of a sudden after that point, then regain a little of your form, but still ironically not even close to where it was as as a young and inexperienced player. It's an even more apt comparison because they have similar skill-sets and body types.

The difference for Kljestan though is he may have left MLS before the apathy, and in turn confidence issues that resulted, became chronic. However, Gaven may still be worth a flier also, from a solid European club, because he was killing it in MLS at 16-17, and is still only 23 (a year+ younger than Kljestan). Get out Eddie, while you still bloody can!

    Re: Sacha Kljestan to Anderlecht

Yea anytime I see Biglia mentioned in transfer rumours, his list of suitors has always been impressive.

I think what you'll find with Sacha is that you have a player with some potential to develop into a very good player but he's not the finished article. Like most Yanks, Sacha will be behind in his development compared to his contemporaries on the Anderlecht squad; that's through little fault of his own though, its more to do with the US youth development system. I believe if Jacobs can show some patience with him, he could turn into something very nice for your club.

If you like to know more it couldn't hurt going to the Chivas USA subforum on here; I bet one of their fanatics would give you an in-depth analysis on him ;)

Anderlecht is a neighbourhood of Brussels and the 2 languages are spoken in Brussels.

If you wanna know (more or less) about the level of Belgium with a player you know, let's say that the ex-champions are Standard de Liège, the club Ogushi Onyewu left for Milan AC. He played there for some years and this is the actual coach of Anderlecht who discovered him in Belgium.

And if you saw Czech Republic - USA, last week, you've probably have seen one of our players: Jan Polak (he scored their first or 2nd goal if I remember well)

Could someone tell me the last match he played with the US team ?

I'll try to find some highlights of the match to have an idea of him.

    Thank you.

This is from last January, when he made a pretty big impact in an international friendly. This was against Sweden, though not their top team. He scored three goals.

He played against the Czeches in his last match but I wouldnt say he had any highlights to be fair. Sweden is his peak moment in the USA shirt in terms of highlights probably.

    He didn't play against turkey.

His best performance was against Holland in the Olympics

If you wanna see some good highlights of Anderlecht's season with lots of goals:

    European cup:
    Anderlecht 5 - 0 Sivasspor
    Ajax Amsterdam 1 - 3 Anderlecht
    Anderlecht 4 - 0 Athletic Bilbao
    Anderlecht 4 - 3 Hamburg

    and in the belgian league:
    Standard 0 - 4 Anderlecht
    Anderlecht 3 - 2 Bruges
    GBA 0 - 5 Anderlecht
    Bruges 1 - 2 Anderlecht (the day we won our 30th title :) )
Anderlecht 4 - 2 KAA Gent (the next one, first at home after the title)

This is, in my opinion, our best matches of the season.

Well, the 3-2 against Bruges was not a good match of ours but we just went crazy with the goal at the 93th minute (an AMAZING goal)

we were all Standard Liege fans when Onyewu were there and Brugge fans when Jeffrey was there and now we're all switching to Anderlecht because of Kljestan. interesting

IDK about you but I'm still a Liege fan(sorry Anderlecht posters).

Gooch won back to back championships, Jeffrey barely played and Sacha's move is not even confirmed yet.;)
