AODC is also finalizing plans for a scarf to be done hopefully in time for people to take with them to SA. Check back, and my goal is to have final plans next week.

I used Adobe Photoshop CS5, which is available for Mac and Win PCs. Adobe Illustrator can also be used to create similar graphics, however both programs are extremely expensive unless you can get a student discount or obtain them by other means. There is a free alternative program that runs on Macs called GIMP. It is not as robust Photoshop/Illustrator, but after a bit of practice it can suffice for basic work.

Thank you for your interest. I suspected this would be a problem. As of now, I doubt I could perfect the design, manufacture scarves, and then ship them in less than five weeks. I guess I should have started work on this several months ago. :p

I appreciate everyone's comments and assistance. I am glad that I learned about the copyright issues before I progressed too far. I have created a new, simple USSF badge that combines aspects of the current badge, the 1950 WC badge, and images that njndirish posted. It's rather unpolished and simplistic.

Here it is (click to enlarge):

And here is an updated, larger preview of the scarves (click to enlarge):

Still love it. still buy one. But if we do really good in South Africa, like make the semis, then I think you should keep the 2010 South Africa. If we do bad though, like Germany, then I would change it to 2014 qualification, or something like that. "Road to Brazil, 2014."

U should always check this thread, and the one dude who created the custom scarf with uncle sam on it may be selling them, if he feels like it.
Hopefully he does, cause I would purchase one in a heartbeat.

  8. I came up with a little more simplistic design for myself and my friends going to the World Cup (and those watching it at home, as well).

[Sorry, I don't have an image to insert here but I put my extras on eBay, item no. 170489608101]

I have some extras and will gladly share them with others. If anyone is interested, please simply PayPal $20 per scarf to jaghna2 [at] yahoo (shipping and handling included) with your address and I will ship the scarf or scarves your way immediately.

I am also open to whatever designs anybody would still like to make. Please PM/email me for details but I can definitely make World Cup scarves for you and have them delivered in time for the opening day. There are still a few days left to do it.

  11. Thank you for the interest, guys. I just wanted to indicate that if you are in Chicago or Minneapolis, you can get the scarves in person at the many soccer events in these cities. Also, my friends at Minnesota Volunteers came up with their own two designs.

As promised, here is our "New Jersey" scarf.

We'll probably start taking pre orders fairly soon for the next batch.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the other scarves being sold... and big props to the NJB: one of the most original designs I've seen.

yeah, if someone has ESPN 360, they can take a screen shot of the scarf, because it was shown for like a whole 10 seconds. No joke. It was either in pre-game or beginning minutes of the match.

Here is a little more information on our scarf, why we designed it the way we did and all the players who are on it:

The New Jersey side has the state flag crest on one end and a silohute of Washington Crossing the Delware on the other. The state of New Jersey in the middle is surrounded by 13 stars representing it as one of the original 13 colonies. There are three gold stars signifying the fact that New Jersey was the Third State to ratify the Constitution and join the Union.

The United States side pays homage to all the US Soccer greats who have hailed from the Garden State. Starting with the early generation of West Hudson stars on the left side of the scarf ending with the latest group on the right who will be representing NJ in this year’s World Cup. Here are all the players listed on the scarf with Wiki links to info about them:

    Tom Florie
    Archie Stark
    George Tintle
    Jimmy Douglas

    Tony Meola
    Peter Vermes
    Glenn Myernick

    Tab Ramos
    Claudio Reyna
    Christie Pearce
    Gregg Berhalter

    Tim Howard
    Jozy Altidore
    Michael Bradley
    Bob Bradley
