classic example of quality over quantity. i think we had double the amount of corners, and plenty of crossing opps. but they were all shite. props to your ultras for driving out here on a thursday. so far the most decorated travelers to rba, the huge goal flag was epic.

Jed Zayner taught Jesus to fish, and he taught me to fish, too. It helps when you haven't posted for two months and have spent your time reading threads about how bad everyone has sucked despite the Crew piling up points.

If I had used a sock, the shtick could have gone on for days. This forum needs to pull itself together.

Much like the players point skyward after a goal, I must pull off my jersey to reveal a lithograph of Zak's face on my undershirt.

    This.

What's even better is the Neg-Rep I got and the attempted Neg-Rep.

The ever-astute CrewPens managed to give me negative rep with the comment "you don't have a clue."

    Ahem.

CleveGuyOH tried to give negative rep, but ended up giving positive rep with the comment "I was going to let your first comment going- but complaining and not knowing Rogers is with the USMNT is reason for a neg-rep"

Sorry. Some of us do not belong to the cool kid clique around here and we didn't know you were not being serious.

I have to agree that Frankie's play - especially his passing - is cause for concern. Now, to be fair, horrible give-aways seem to be par for the course for the Crew this year; it's happening all the f-ing time. But it's death for a defender to do that sort of thing, and Frankie's been doing it quite often.

That said, I think Robert's going to dance with who brung him, when it comes to Hejduk. And I can't argue too strongly against that decision, especially with our current record, and knowing that Frankie brings so many intangibles to the club that the fans don't ever get a chance to witness. Thing is, when Hejduk actually buckles down and plays defense, I think he does a solid job. It's when he does his free-wheeling runs up the right side of midfield thing that problems emerge.

I heard Frankie scream like a girl a couple of times when he did not get a call. I wonder where he learned that?

He has built a very respectable career out of that game, though. When you play Frankie, you know that is what you're going to get; that is what you married.

Our best defender last night was the goal post.

I am in love with ESPN HD. I can't believe Sunday's game is back to the ONN-Atari quality broadcast.

Nah... guess we got them mixed up..

You could do a really good remix using "German RBNY fan" with last night's highlights and comments from the RB PbP thread.

If you're saying that I should know Mateo like he's Billy Badass because I've been on here for a while then I guess I don't pay too much attention.

Anywho.... Great win for the team.

And let me go ahead and state for the record that I don't think Ekpo had a great game. My point with him is there were at least a half dozen times where he was surrounded by 2-3 defenders and he managed to maneuver away and keep posession and make a pass to keep the attack going. I think a lot of people take that for granted. Being able to hold posession like he does is very valuable.

Because he's so hard to get off the ball(UNLIKE Robbie)I would like to see him for more than 10 mins a game.

I want to see Renteria and Lenhart up top, it's the "I am a Motherf*cker" line up.

    I find myself agreeing here.

It seemed to me that some guys on the team, I noticed it with Moffat over and over again, kept passing Ekpo the ball when he was in a crowd.

A couple of times the pass was intercepted, more often he just found himself trying to maintain possession in the middle of three defenders.

I was always taught that as often as not it's the pass that causes the turnover. You just don't pass the bal to a teammate who's got guys hanging all over him and Ekpo was marked up closely all night long.

Did he make some mistakes, yes. Tell me who didn't. Hell, Moffat had about his fifth straight terrible performance.

But the "nobody's perfect" argument is always weak sauce and that's not what I'm saying. It just seems that everybody - including his teammates but also the fans - seem to think the guy ought to just slalom through five defenders and launch a rocket and are shocked when he can't.

Anybody who's played above the U12 level knows that you try not to deliver the ball to someone with his back to the goal, but that's what Ekpo got over and over. Half the time or more he'd just make a back pass. Which is hos the game is played; you pass the ball in the direction you're facing unless you have enough room to turn up field with the ball.

    Ekpo never did.

Now we can argue whether he did enough to find the seams, locate the space and exploit it, but on the other hand it appeared that he was told to be where he was, since the pass over to the left appeared to be more or less auto automatic for most of the back six.

Like anyone else he's got to have some pace to operate. Asking him to cruise around three defenders every time he touches the ball and griping when he can't is ridiculous.

I still wouldn't mind seeing Herrera again. I would hate to have him leave because he's only got 4 minutes of playing time. I don't see how anyone can judge a man's worth in training. When I played, I played games much, much differently than practice, and I know a lot of people are the same. Some play worse in games, some play better. He needs more of a chance to prove himself.
