From the Bolton Wanderers Official Site:The squad will then head to South Carolina for the fixture with Charlotte Battery on Saturday 17 July before finally travelling to Canada to play Toronto FC on Wednesday 21 July. North American Tour Announced LINK Obviously, they called us Charlotte, but they are playing the Eagles on the 14th. And the state, team name and date are right, so... The Battery will "officially" announce the opponent's name tomorrow morning at 9:30am, via the uber-twitter.
now the cat is out of the bag we can talk this one up! Kudos to those that made this happen. I dont know what the price is going to be but I got a call from a ticket rep Tuesday offering me an advance sell to reserve my seat (west side seat) for $15! Your not going to see an EPL team play anywhere for musch less than that Not sure how likely some of the World Cup players are going to be during that time but bolton is going to be spending this summer so we shall see. On a side note, I wonder where they are going to play Charlotte? the Stadium Charlotte uses is no way going to work.
Absolutely love it. I may have to make the trip down from the Upstate for a two-fer that weekend with the Real match the night before.
its on the Battery front page now. http://www.charlestonbattery.com/news.asp?y=2010&page=1&id=526 tickets starting at $15 discounts for groups of 10 or more. Also they go on sale to the general public on Monday at 9am
Article in the local paper about the Bolton v. Battery match up http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/may/14/battery-finally-gets-premier-league-match/

Everybody knows you know this one!! I was thinking with your memory, you'd post something like "there's actually been 2 players that have played EPL sides..." You never know these days. Since its going to be revealed soon anyway, if you don't know yet, here's a clue. The EPL side this player went up against was Chelsea and the main player he marked was Shaun Wright Phillips I believe. (Mr. O, feel free to chime in with more obscure clues...)
why is that? oh and by the way the two battery players in question played Chelsea (Double Winners!!!!) at different times on different teams.
the Regiment secured a group discount for Section E10. Call Suzanne Sudzina (Sudz) at the 843-971-GOAL ext 218 and tell here you want tickets for the match in E10 with the Regiment! Tickets will be $12 each but you need to get your tickets before July 2, if they last that long!
Here's the Part A answer to the trivia question. John Wilson started & played against Chelsea in a friendly as a member of DC United. The match was on July 28, 2005. Here's a match report: DC United Thrill Crowd But Fall to Chelsea FC 2-1
I'll be there for this game...maybe the only other game I can make it to this season (unless they make the championship and i can squeeze in a quick flight...lol)....can't wait! Wonder if horn girl will be there for this game?
we got a game on Friday July16 at home too. You goin to make that one too? Horn girl was there this past week but surprisingly "subdued" maybe she got her Meds worked out?
Possibly...just depends when we get a flight there. Gonna make a trip to Orlando too so trying to tie everything together and make one long trip hopefully
At least some of the NC folks are planning a road trip. (And I'm trying to decide whether I can join in the fun.)
it will be good to see you guys down here again. Should be a good match and there are a few gusy from Bolton coming over. We'll be hosting a big tailgate before the match. i promise we'll have a bigger crowd for this one! dont forget, to get the $12 tickets, call Suzanne Sudzina and ask her for tickets in E10 with the Regiment. We can only hold the section until July 2 if they last that long. after that prices will go up to $15
Bump. Last day to take advantage of the $12 tickets in E10. Call Suzanne at 843-971-GOAL ext 218 to get the deal. You can still get tickets for E10 after today but the price goes up to $15. Ticket sells are going well for the match and they are expecting it to be packed so dont wait
Big Tailgate planned for Saturday afternoon. Looking at Frogmore Stew, hopefully some Pull Pork. As always feel free to join us, bring some beer to share and a side dish or something. well probably get started around 4, so come on by! We will be near the East Stand entrance.
Stopped by the Front office today, West Stands is sold out. only East Stand bleachers left and they are expecting a sellout. the contigency is to sell "standing room" only tickets behind the goals once all the seats are sold. If you have already bought your tickets and havent picked them up yet, I highly recommend you do it before Saturday night. they are expecting it to be very busy at Will Call. Tailgate set up starts at around 4ish. we'll ahve some pull pork, the frogmore stew, and bunch of sides and beer.
