I must admit to looking forward to USA's first game more than ever (and I'm Czech, so last WC's first game was pretty highly anticipated). I like the US's chances: if Landon is on, we have a chance. But if he's not, like last WC, then it'll be a short three games. English hopes are sky high, and though they're playing better than 2 and 4 years ago, really, this is the same team, and it'll be awesome if we knock them off first game. Man, am I looking forward to the game...
I studied in england for 4 months during college. I want to be able to pull for England, after the US, of course, but I frankly hate most of their starting 11 (mainly because they are all Chelski, ManUre, or Scum it seems).
Agreed. I love the country but have grown to despise most of that squad so much I could never root for their team. Other than Milner and perhaps Walcott if he makes the trip I'm pretty much rooting against England.
I really doubt we'll see Walcott get much playing time -- unless he puts in some really good performances in the pre-tournament matches.
Walcott and Lenon/Milner would tear the US defense to shreds. Our only hope is for Dempsey and Charlie Davies to get through Terry and the geriatric Ledley King more.
