Thought you said early? Oh well, guess that puts us into the NYC area about 3PM. I was hoping for a lot earlier but it is what it is
If we get there any earlier what is everyone supposed to do? 4+ hours of tailgating is already pushing it. This is good timing just in case we run late or anything unforeseen may occur. Keep in mind the purpose of this trip is to get to the game support our team and get back home. Sight seeing is going to be difficult to do (although not completely impossible)
Naw, I just find it hard to sleep on a bus during the day. 4+ hour tailgate...maybe a stir fry wrap with lots of cold liquid bread
I just had a thought. I doubt the subway/train authorities would care for us taking lots of tifo on our way to the game. Any chance we might be able to send some of it along with the bus?
Is there anything in the plans for beverage on the bus or should we all plan on BYOB? Same for food??? Do we need to stick with plastic beverage containers?
Food should be provided in the form of a snack on the way up and back as well as a meal when we get there, we will have some beverages as well, bring some extra of both just in case, the more the merrier!
Hey Clem, myself brock and billy are taking a car up to new york so any extra tifo that we want to wont go in the bus or with you let me know. Cause we have plenty of room also. I know we have like 1 or 2 tifo's already in the car. Not sure how much space we have for banners and tifo.....
Since we're not going overnight we'll have a ton of space underneath the bus (way more space than we could fill with tifo). So you might as well give yourselves more room in the car. Blake: Have you or Kevin confirmed what we're allowed and not allowed to bring in and how that will work at RBA?
Yeah I totally forgot it's not an overnight trip for the bus so yeah I will make sure whatever tifo was in the car goes on the bus!
Passing on some info from Red Bull: not thrilled about the no big flags thing, will try to ask for permission to bring it. Also, the section on banners is confusing, as you see in the picture above there is railing at the front of the section, but no LCD boards. At the very least there should be plenty of empty seats to put banners on around us. Also, it's impressive that one supporter was able to light and hold 4 or 5 flares in the Chicago supporter section at one time.
Yeah i think the Chicago supporter story is bullshit. Also if someone was banned from all MLS stadiums there would of been a big story about it. I mean look at what happened with beckham and the LA supporter. That was a huge story. I personally think they guy might of been kicked out and maybe arrested but banned from every MLS stadium is dumb, I highly doubt that happened! Also who and the hell would ever send their banners to a stadium prior to them getting there just for them to hang them up....haha yeah right.
Well, no flag poles larger than five feet rules out the Indy flag. Not sure about the Global Domination and New Empire two sticks, though.
Am going to seek clarification on this, so don't rule them out yet. The top flag philly fans have in the above photo looks to be bigger than a 5' pole. Will keep you guys updated.
Man, I don't know about mailing a banner to them for it to be hung from the roof. Nice concept and I've seen it done in J-league photos. But the trust factor. Okay so they want us to mail only banners to be hung from the roof or ALL banners?
Worked it out with them today. Banners that we want to be hung up on the back of the section that require some time to put up and more then a few people to do so are technically required to be mailed with all materials to hang such banner. That said, I told them that if we ended up having any banners that size, of which we wanted to hang up like that, we could make a game day decision and try and take care of it on game day. If that doesn't work out then it doesnt work out. This saves us the hastle of mailing any banners. Also, unfortuntely their stadium policy is no poles larger then 5ft. "Safety concern past 5ft" is what I'm told..... so the larger flags probably are a no go. So for what we can do: We can always bring our ample amount of checkered flags again, and there should definitely be ample extra space to drape our banners across empty seats, as I doubt this being a mid week game they will sell out to the point of needing to dip into the visting section for NY fans.
