So... does Messi's choke job put Ronaldo back into WPOTY category assuming he has a better WC than Messi?

How did Messi choke? He played out of his normal position to come get to the ball and be involved. He had a shot that Julio Ceaser may have made the save of the season to stop, and he put the ball perfectly on Bojan's head which Bojan should have easily scored.

Inter just parked the bus, even the almighty Ronaldo would have had trouble against >6 people behind the ball at all times.

messi sucked oh and btw he usually plays in the middle now so dont say its not his natural position LOL he never once scored on a mourinho coaches team.

if that was ronaldo losing to inter everyone would say he sucks and messi is the best.

He usually plays on the wings. He plays in the middle when Ibra isn't playing. LOL. And when Ibra came off and Messi went alone in the middle, Barca had their best chances....coincidence?

Ronaldo shouldn't win the WPOTY this year. But if he carries Portugal in the world cup, things will look very different

That's true. There's definitely a double-standard. The fair thing to say is that Ronaldo did well in the classico but was not super-human; similarly, Messi did ok today (great shot + great cross + nothing else) but was not super-human. Inter covered him (and Xavi) extremely well. He tried a few times to go 1-on-1 against defenders and he lost the ball 75% of the time. Otherwise, he passed the ball around and did not try to force the issue (Ronaldo would definitely have tried to force the issue - which is the double-edged sword of his talent/temperament).

That being said: one thing did piss me off. In the first half, Messi has no chance on the ball but still flips Maicon with some Judo move and nearly dislocates the guy's shoulder - but you won't see anybody report on how dirty that was (it helps that he's nearly half of the size of Maicon but that's what Judo is for...).

Messi had one good shot, thats about it. He was active but I wanted him to be more of a leader and he failed.

One hell of a save by JC stopped what would have been a fantastic goal and the beginning of the come-back. Soccer is such a cruel game . :)

you have no idea what your talkin about. Messi is a winger. you live in fantasy land anyway

i hate having conversations with people who don't understand soccer. you can have your own wrong opinion, but Messi did everything he could to win that game and did not choke.

maybe you hold him so highly in regard that if he doesn't win he's a choke?

Sorry to offend you over Messi. Ronaldo sucks. Does that make you feel better now? Buy a new Messi poster to calm yourself down.

    Messi is a choke!!!!! :D :p

See thats the difference between me and you guys that post. I think Messi and Ronaldo are both amazing. I don't feel pressured to like one more than the other because one happens to be Portugese. I just sit back and watch both preform magic.

Messi didn't choke. But think what you want homie. I wont lose sleep

    I can't even stand Ronaldo :D

I'm just saying Messi choked to piss off the Messi fans. They are quick to accuse Ronaldo of "sucking" after one "bad game"
