Dang. That sucks. Hope she heals quickly & w/o complications. As for the team, SBFC have the pieces to replace Lloyd on the field so I think they'll be fine (or at least not that much worse off) until she returns. Wonder what sort of break & what sort of timeline she's been given. I'm going to have to go back to the video to see if I can tell where she went down...
Did it happen on the challenge from Klein that is pictured on the wps site? I thought Lloyd's ankle looked strange from the photo.....
All I know is that breaks heal faster (6 wks??) than sprains (12 weeks min). There has not been much in the news about this or even on the WPS site. How did you get video of this game?
There was a delayed webcast on the CRS site. All CRS home games are supposed to be webcast (per an announcement from the team). Supposedly there will be an archive of games there, as well. But I haven't checked to see if said archive is functional yet.
From where I sit at midfield at Toyota Park, it looked like Loyd just fell on her own kind of backwards very awkwardly and twisted her leg.
May 1 game: SKY BLUE FC UNAVAILABLE: Anita Asante (knee), Tasha Kai (hamstring), Christie Rampone (maternity leave), Meghan Schnur (knee) 30-DAY INJURED RESERVE: Carli Lloyd (ankle - eligible to return May 27) 60-DAY INJURED RESERVE: Jenni Branam (knee - eligible to return June 5)
Oh man that doesn't look good! I'll keep faith in those remaining. I can't wait to see everyone back at full health.
Schnur had a bone chip removed; and Asante was practicing on the field before tonight's game so hopefully she is soon to return.
Since Asante and Washington are now on Athletica, does anybody in Sky Blue territory know how close they are to being healthy?
Based on this article http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/skyblue2.php?article_id=23505: "Anita Asante is training with the club and could be back in the lineup as early as next weekend…"
That's good news for Athletica. I guess with the addition of Koster and with Rampone coming back soon, SBFC thought Asante was expendable. Trotter has potential, too, but I think her time out of the game when she temporarily retired left her a little out of shape. Maybe that's her normal look, but I thought she looked a tad heavy legged. But then, she only played a few minutes in the matches I've watched her. Best of luck to India.
And yet you never shared the gossip w/ the rest of us :: Trotter may be useful to SBFC but I think Asanti would have been more helpful to the cause.
with her performance, i think brittany taylor pretty much nailed the other center back job opposite rampone, koster would make a good relief...making asante a very valuable player for trades like this. like they said, both sides will have to feel as if they won on the deal. aa will surely be missed tho...
Daphne Koster is injured with something that apparently involves a numb mouth and having to drink smoothies. (??) "What do you do when teeth can not put together? Smoothie drink!" http://twitter.com/daphnekoster
argh what the hell ? I must admit not being convinced by Koster's performance - but how disheartening well at least we have a bit longer before the next home game. Will we ever see the whole team play together
I like Koster. She covers some ground. If she gets beat she reaches for shirt tails. I cannot say enough about Taylor. She has saved our butts and filled some big shoes as a rookie.
