After seeing the group of Crew fans at the Dallas game last weekend, I find myself tempted to go on this roadtrip. I'm due. I hit 5 Crew road trips in 2008, but zero last year. Gotta make this year better.

We're to waiting lists for the bus. Still trying to finalize price with bus company before we can set the price for each person riding the bus.

Current plans put me in Columbus on Wednesday at 10:30p. Should I think about changing that?

Depending on when the bus rolls in just take the train into NYC, ive heard it isnt much more than a 15-20 minute ride into manhatten. As long as your back in time for the game!

You should be fine. Right now it looks like the bus will be departing Columbus early Friday morning (5:00 - 7:00 AM).

We have received a quote from the bus company we used several times last year and are waiting to hear back from the Crew FO as they were checking with the bus company they use.

As John mentioned the Crew Union portion of the bus is currently reserved with about 3 people on the waiting list. HSH still has some spots open so if you are a paid member of HSH please contact Blake ASAP to reserve you spot.

I'm hoping to have a bus reserved by the end of tomorrow. I'll keep you guys updated

Does anybody know what the away-section banner and flags policy is?

I'd assume we're allowed to bring flags from this photo (how big I'm not sure). If we're put where Chicago was there isn't much railing space, but it's hard to tell from this photo. I know Kevin said MLS wasn't happy with the pyro display from talking to the red bull FO about tickets, so hopefully they didn't ruin all the fun for visiting supporters.

It's Chicago. They need to realize that Chicago fans usually mean some sort of pyro display. If MLS isn't happy, that's on them.

*insert comment about MLS not being happy with Chicago's pyro displays and how that relates to the relationship between MLS FO and TFC.*

That sucks. I was hoping to get a little time to see the city before the match. I'm guessing it will take at least 10 hours on a bus putting us there 3:00-5:00 PM.

According to the Red Bulls it's only 20 min to the World Trade Center station from the stadium on PATH trains.

Which gives us 2 hours or so to see the city. I was hoping for a 10:00 PM Wednesday departure so that we could have most of the day before heading back to the stadium. I understand that it may be cost prohibitive though if they wanted to charge significantly more since we'd technically be leaving a day earlier.

The schedule is not finalized but I don't think leaving late Wednesday is the best option for an up and back trip. An entire day in NYC and then the match that evening with only the bus as refuge seems a bit much for the majority of riders. If this were an overnight trip and we had a hotel I think leaving late Wednesday would be better.

It seems like most of the people wanting to spend time in the city are travelling on their own and meeting us at the match

maybe leaving at 2am is an option? the bus gets there around 2pm and it will give the driver some time to rest before the trip back. just saying.

I used to live in Jersey City (3 stops down the PATH) and from Harrison to WTC, it's about 20-30 mins.

from WTC you can transfer to the 1, 2, 3 or A, C, E subway lines.

For the record though, it takes you about an hour to get to the American Museum of Natural History from the Harrison stop. That's where I worked, and did that ride twice a day, every day.

So really, if you have two hours, you're limited to seeing things that are downtown. There's still a fair amount to see, like South St. Seaport (if you're into the touristy mall type area), Battery Park, Canal Street/Chinatown/Little Italy (if you want fake purses, fake sunglasses, or fake Italian food), and NYU and Greenwich Village (my favorite place to eat, but also easy to get turned around in; While I lived there I would try to eat at a different ethnic restaurant every week: I hit Portuguese, Tibetan, Afghan, Cuban, Vietnamese, Norwegian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Greek, Polish, Israeli, all in the Village, and still had plenty more to do before my time there ended).

The unfortunate thing about being in South Manhattan is that all of the really famous museums are uptown. Even the Empire State Building and the Rockefeller Center are pretty far and pushing it. The UN is across town, and the Met, AMNH and the Guggenheim are all up by Central Park.

That being said, if we've got time after the bus arrives and before the game starts, I'm probably going to go to my favorite sushi restaurant (I miss it so much) but am more than willing to offer suggestions & directions as to what to do.
