This is The Crew's fifteenth season on the pitch. In the Club offices/ cubicles, I've seen a lot of "historical" items. Should The Crew establish a museum and Archivist to preserve this history for future generations? What should be included?
Re: The Crew Museum First, I would have a game shirt from each season plus team pennants recieved in friendlies. Then, of course, our trophy display. Many teams have a team bar at the stadium or at their offices where such items are displayed: for example there was a team restaurant and bar at the home offices of Hamburg SV that I visited that had much of this kind of thing on display (and I regret that I never went over to see the 1 FC Koeln clubhouse, which was only a short walk from my dorm) while Moenchengladbach has a team bar (called "**Gladbach") in their stadium complex--though I am not sure how that is decorated as I did not have time to look inside on the match day when we went.
Re: The Crew Museum I would like to be in charge of the 2002-2003 exhibit. There will be a large picture of Greg Andrulis with a loud speaker directly above it announcing various Motorrrrrrrrrrrrrist Insurance Corner Kicks and Sold on Hold commercials one after another. Then, a man who is dressed like Jim Smith (or any other carnival barker) will tell you that you're unimportant and shoo you along to the next exhibit.
Re: The Crew Museum Gotta have a green-tinted bronze bust of Tom Fitzgerald followed by a roman pillar with a rotten egg on to represent Greg Andrulis.
Re: The Crew Museum Don't forget the statue of Tony Sanneh in the basement under the urinal pipes. Reading over these posts, it shows that this is a cynical and bitter group of fans. I'm not saying there aren't good reasons for us to be that way; it just strikes me in the funny bone.
Re: The Crew Museum Chad, Red Card, McCartney stuffed and mounted. God we were bad with those teams back then. Isnt time though that we start retiring some numbers in homage of the past greats...#3 for Mike Clarke would be my first.
Re: The Crew Museum FYP. I'm not so sure about retiring numbers yet--but a Wall of Fame might be nice. Clark would be a good choice along with Fitz and Mr. Hunt for starters. In the basement, we could then have the Wall of Shame, with Sanneh, The Beared One, and Jim $mith among others.
Re: The Crew Museum I think Crew legend Robbie Rogers should have all of his stuff in his own section of the museum. Without him leading the team on that miracle run in 08 I don't know where the club would be today.
Re: The Crew Museum And don't forget the vid of Rogers teaching GBS how the game is played at the begining of the 2008 pre-season
Re: The Crew Museum flippin the bird I think there would need to be a McBride with the Crew line and then his later tumble with the devil, packed with a giant photo of Marshall scoring that beautiful header on him and a caption saying: "was she worth it, Bake?" Also, a computer simulation game where YOU are the coach picking the lineup and/or PK kickers for the 2004 Playoff game... and once you choose all of the best choices, Greg's ugly mug flashes all over the screen and you are reduced to watch your choices morph into his choices. Perhaps a stuffed Martino where there are some wires that are always pulling his socks down, so that he has to pull them back up. Also, in this dream of a Crewseum, there would be a room with a projector playing all of the best Crew games from the 15 seasons. ... and Maybe a tombstone for Crew Groove?
Re: The Crew Museum Stomp your feet for the frozen treat!!!!!! I hear they are having issues opening the Museum because of the TFC flares that drop on your head when you walk in creates a fire hazard.
Re: The Crew Museum It's sitting in the VIP lounge, near the bathrooms. I wonder if they will move it to the Huntington Club/PUB. What if anything that would you like to see hanging in the new pub.
Re: The Crew Museum I'd love to see a framed version of every jersey we've ever worn in a line-up somewhere in the stadium/museum/etc. Then again, that'd mean the team would have actually have one from each year somewhere -- somehow I doubt they thought about that back in the late 90s.
Re: The Crew Museum I know they didn't because they were going to set up something like that down at Obetz a few years back and Tucker was asking us if we knew anyone who had a white jersey from the first season. Dunno if they actually did it though. I've offered to loan some of the items I have (like a Magic jersey) to the pub but have not gotten a reply yet.
