I remember when i first saw him, it was that Chelsea vs Valencia match in CL group stages, don't know which year, and he scored a cracker. Ever since i became his fan and my likeness for him as a player further grew in Euro '08 where he played so good. Come to United Silva and i will support you even more!
Apparently Silva has a Korean grandfather on the mother's side - I assume his grandmother wasn't/isn't a Korean, as if that was the case then he'd be called a half-Korean but no such mention in any of the reports, yet.

I Heard that some people were protesting to take 무한도전 off the air. What the heck was that all about?! i mean this is like the only decent Korean TV show i watch and it also starred Thierry Henry!!! I remember when at the end they said "Henry Can we come to England and go to Your house?" and he said "yeah sure come to England sometime!" and few days after his transfer to FC Barcelona was finalised.
after reading thru this thread, i don't know whether to laugh or cry. i can't believe how many newbies have posted because of this. as yimmy said, he's 1/4 Korean and even tho he may be proud of his roots (which would be great), lamenting the missed opportunities or the permutations of how he might have been able to suit up for the KNT is just plain ridiculous. granted it is nice to dream, but guys,,, c'mon. albeit, it is a nice find by melon. interesting fact to know. Holy shit, you guys just blowed me away. You know why ? during Euro (i think he was already playing) i was looking at spain playing, and i said something like "this guy kinda looks korean to me", of course i was laughed out of the room at that time. And now i'm reading this, makes sens. I guess i have some special ability to see in blood lines.
I dont think anyone really believes he would play for the KNT. At least i don't. I just think it's pretty cool that a quarter Korean, Spanish player, plays for the best squad in the world.
His nickname has been "El Chino" for a long time. It's something that's very popular in Spain and in Latin America. It's not very PC but a lot of people call any asian or people with asian characteristics "chino" as a nickname. Even if they technically aren't from China. I have friends nicknamed "chino" and it really isn't meant as racist or anything like that. I imagine he probably got the nickname as a child since as was mentioned his grandfather was Korean.
