Could you elaborate on this part? (Specifically: What is "-d," and do you mean that Wahl is now all soccer -- i.e., no college basketball?)
I don't know if his name has a 'd' in it or not. I suppose I could have used (sp?), but... Wahl is full time soccer. I take Ives' move as a demotion. Smaller potential audience. Freedman's I figure is one too, but I have no idea.
Freedman's move to run the coverage for MLSnet is, I think, a good one. Certainly more responsibility. And if you're trying to reach soccer fans, the MLS site probably reaches more of them than SI.com. (Not to say SI.com doesn't have reach, it does. But is it the first stop for an MLS fan?)
At the moment, Lalas and Freedman moving to MLS' new site has to look like an absolute catastrophe. By the way, Jen Wang moved from ESPN to SI.
A lot of people seem happy (or at least schadenfreude-ish) about this big exodus from Soccernet. I actually find it kind of dismaying. I don't like the idea of America's biggest sports news organization having no American soccer writers of note.
