It looks like Ruiz is in better physical condition then he was when he was in LA the last time.

Apples and avocados here. BJ doesn't have a lick of skill and might never. He is all desire and hustle which in the American game, college particularly is a prized asset. The Mexican league is just pedestrian enough for Jovan to play in. When the game slows down there is no questioning his skill, vision and ability to thrive. Losing two steps in MLS is seemingly career ending, juts go ask Chris Klein, another good guy whose best days were a decade ago.
