Houston Dynamo stadium is almost ready to go, for those who are too lazy to read:

The last I read was $200 mil for KC stadium. Do you have the link to the decrease in cost? Thanks.

Holy, what? 18,000 seats and it cost 200,000 million dollars? Stupid.

Yeah, it has a ton of amenities though, like 2 HD video boards, 33 luxury suits, all seaters, undersoil heating, cooling and drainage, etc..., that's why the cost goes through the roof. If it was build with just seats and benches, I don't think it will break the $50-70 mil mark.

The stadium was build with expansion in mind though but I have no idea how.

It would be retarded to build such a low capacity stadium for that much...my gawd!!!

unless they think they would never build a fan base that would fil up a 30K+ stadium...

33 Lux suites? How many can they really sell in Kansas...not to say their isnt rich ppl there but rick ppl who like soccer,,and like the wizards...hard to combine all 3..

Thats too much money for it...

the design isnt too bad...but i find the amount to be paid ridiculous!

Well, I suppose KC can't fill more then that at the moment anyway. At least it would be a hell of an experience, given all the extras they've added.

The Construction costs aren't that insane when you look at what American and Canadian cities typcally pay for arenas that seat about the same capacity. Orlando's new basketball arena (480 million) and Pittsburgh's new hockey arena (320 million) are both significantly more expensive for the same seating capacity.

Does seem a bit exorbitant when the Quakes are building a 15k+3k stadium for $60 million. Do the 3000 extra permanent seats and luxury suites cost $100 to $140 million? Because the Quakes design has all seater and a double sided video board too...

Thanks for sharing that with us Namdynamo! What's going on there in the left hand corner? Is there a stage or even seats on the right side?

MLS appears to be headed in the right direction in terms of stadium design.

Maybe they can rebrand the team name and logo while they're at it.

    Rep in 24!

I heard they got 60 mo. interest free financing too... :D

It also has to do with the undersoil heating, cooling and drainage, etc. Maybe it also includes some area redevelopment, but I haven't looked into it and probably won't. The rendering shows a couple of buildings outside of the stadium, so they might be some stores, restaurants, office space, etc.

I'm thinking that's what is really costing $200 mil is the total development including the stadium and surrounding area. Because it seems unlikely that the stadium itself is going to cost $200 million. That's one thing we haven't (and won't) hear about the Quakes development is how much the ancillary development around the stadium is going to cost since it is coming from other funding sources outside what is funding the stadium and is being built at a later time.

I have no idea what that is in the left hand corner (maybe it is a beer drinking deck?) but the right side are the seats for the home supporters section (no stage).
