They used to play at San Jose State University, which was a little bigger than this stadium and has hosted some international friendlies. The Quakes are trying to get a new stadium but it's not definate yet.
Well that and it will have stands that are half again steeper, no running track, the closest stands to the pitch in MLS, a full roof over all the seating areas, actual seats rather than benches, no fence holding the fans in like a jail, a full HD scoreboard, a bar at one end above the supporters... you know, just a few little things like that
I think you forgot the bright line rule, that if its an MLS stadium=unimpressive "high school" stadium. There were people slamming Red Bull Arena earlier in this thread which tells you something about the objectivity involved.
Eh, minor details. Besides the final design isn't even finished yet, so some of those are things on the wish list for now.
...and your going to bring the orange slices and capri suns and cheer on skyler while sipping on your mojito.
Right, because thats the entire MLS fanbase . I'll take the ad hominem to mean you actually have no substantive retort based on the initial comparison.
No one mentioned the entire MLS. The other half of the fans consist of the ones that got "voucher" tickets for the game.
the only thing that was been compared was a design of the stadium wtf those a bar matter? I didn't know you went to a soccer game just to sit at a bar. Matter of fact we are talking about a second division stadium to a 15k first division stadium.
I see MLS fans are annoyed by the jabs Mexicans are dishing when on the subject of MLS stadiums. Times this by a hundred and you'll soon find out how annoyed we are at the constant closing the gap analysis/obsession. Cry me a river. Funny, I use to coach my little sisters team back in the day, we had orange slices at half time, and a kid named Skyler as our goalie.
You "orange slices" comment was a jab at the supposed soccer mom image of the fan base and how the bar somehow fits in with this. Considering how many games people watch in bars, having one overlooking the field itself isn't exactly an insane notion or indication Earthquake supporters are a soft fan base. Once again, the second Mexican division stadium and the Eathquakes stadium (which is now projected at 18k), will look nothing alike.
your second paragraph would of been sufficient instead the other poster made a pretty dumb statement.
By any chance were you calling the goalie by his middle name, and his actual first and last name was Luke Walker? Lighten up mi gente... I'd actually prefer that this thread was called the North American futbol/soccer Stadium thread rather than a us versus them thread. Nevertheless carry on... ding ding
Actually all of those things I mentioned are in the design as it exists now. And thus far they've just added things to the design as they move forward
Until the stadium is fully funded, a final design is approved, and gets city/voter approval, then it's all a big wish list.
The stadium is already partially funded, they're currently working on the rest. They're working on the final design as we type. And the stadium needs no more city approvals beyond permits to build (and needs no voter approval).
It's all about tone and accuracy my man . The voters or lack of voters thing is a big deal, particularly in San Jose.
What is a big deal is that the project isn't even fully funded yet, forget everything else. Until then no eating orange slices in the "fully covered" stand while drinking a margarita ordered from the "bar".
Re: a picture from Hotu Matua user of SSC When I first saw the location of Estadio Chivas I thought to myself, the stadium is really on the outskirts of the city, then I recalled that the same could have once been said about Estadio Jalisco...
Kansas City new 200 million dollars stadium, less seats but cost the same as the New York Red Bulls stadium (construction is taking place at this moment). It has real Kentucky grass playing surface with Subair under-soil heating, cooling system and drainage. All around canopy, 33 luxury suits, 2 HD video boards, and many other amenities:
