Saturday's game was awesome. Took the girl I'm seeing and she loved it. She'll be singing and chanting in no time. There are still some pretty strong issues with concession lines and ticketing help, but I imagine those will be sorted out. I agree that song and chants should be the drive of the noise coming from the supporters' sections. If I had my own supporters' club, I'm in section 102 btw, I'd love to get them singing New York, New York at opening kickoff (with a change in the words to 'Red Bull New York'). Food for thought friends. Also, the second half shows a decline in chants and song. What can we do about that? And, how will I know what chants are happening? I am new to the supporters' sections and tried to look up chants on ESC website but too many and confusing. Needs to be more user friendly. Thanks to all who came out and will continue! I had a blast singing and chanting with you.
Start out with this, the rest you'll pick up later. http://www.empiresupportersclub.com/2008/06/05/hymns/
I was in the same section and have to agree that I was surprised at the numbers of Fire fans that had showed up. And they pretty much never stopped chanting during the whole match. I was also pleased to see that Redbull fans around them that often started chanting over them
The lines were horrible though. It took me half hour to pick up my tickets at the will call window, even though I only had like 7 people in front of me. Also getting out of the parking lot took forever. I just went to sleep in my car for like an hour and a half.
Red Bull Arena opening on YouTube makes it into PCMag slideshow on the iPad: http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow_viewer/0,1205,l%3D249673%26a%3D247878%26po%3D31,00.asp
Just saw this at the start of the arsenal v barca game and thought it was pretty cool. The stadium announcer reads out the team line up but only says the first name and the crowd says the surname. http://www.footytube.com/video/arsenal-barcelona-mar31-38513 About 35 secs in. Would it work in RBA? I think the players would love it.
I always thought that was kinda corny... How about everyone yells 'WHO?' after each opposing player's name is called
We did that back in 2000. It is also a Bundesliga custom, and we 'adopted' it in honor of Matthaeus, who was on our team that season -- when he wasn't on the beach in France, recuperating. By 'adopted' I mean it was half-hearted at best, never really caught on with the fans, and we had a very good team that season.
Churchill Cup Rugby On 6/19 there is the finals of rugby tournament at RBA. Sounds like fun and another opportunity to stuff ourselves on Ferry St. Anyone have any idea how to get tix?
Re: Churchill Cup Rugby It will probably show up on the Red Bull tickets site. http://www.redbullarena.us/events/event.aspx?F_d=6/19/2010&F_y=2010&F_m=6&EventId=226
Or we could use the Devils tradition and yell sucks after every opposing players name. I tried to get it going last game but nobody caught on.
Got my 6 pack of tickets for the May 15th Seattle game via email today. I'll be flying in from Albuquerque the day of the game and back out on Sunday. 5 family members are driving down from the finger lakes area. Can't wait

I loved the stadium. Looked great and was easy to get into. The atmosphere was great. I went on opening day vs. Santos but I have some big, big problems with the facilities. The lines for the bathroom were way too long. I left right at halftime and missed some of the second half waiting in line. There are not nearly enough urinals. I've never had to wait this long at any other stadium (MSG, Giants Stadium, Nassau Colosseum). The lines to get drinks/food were also way too long. We shouldn't have to wait on line for over 15 minutes before the game even starts to get beer. The lines were clogging up the whole concourse and it was hard to walk from one part of the stadium to the other. They really should've added another 20 feet or so to the main walkway to account for the concession lines. I went with a group of friends, some being soccer fans, and some not. Everyone loved the look of the stadium and the atmosphere, but 3 of them said they were never coming back because of the terrible concourse issues that I just talked about. I, personally, will be going back because I like the team, but these are major problems for me. Was the 2nd match better with this than the first, or were the same problems will there?
What's the point of watching the webcam when you can actually go to the stadium and watch it in person?
didn't want to have to start a new thread about this so i'll just ask it here, but did anyone notice that the RBA ads at port authority don't have JPA? I saw Kandji, Hall, Stammler, Richards, but no billboard with el capitan. Did I miss it or is did RBNY's ad agency really not showcase our showcase player?
In the same advertising vein as kidtelex's post and so I don't have to revive the other advertising post...apologies if that has already been posted... Continental to become a sponsor of RBNY http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/prnewswire/DA83979.htm Wonder what it entails
