That Harkes goal was great, but I like this one more regardless of the import of the situation. It's the precision of the whole thing combined with the degree of difficulty of facing in the opposite direction and chipping back across his body and the entire face of the goal, and dropping it about 6" below the bar and 6" inside the post.

Adam Johnson ..... and I thought his (Johnson's) intentions on that goal were much more in question than those of Dempsey today.

Man, I love Zamora's hand thrown in the air and Hodgson's boyish grin after the goal. I'd love to have a few scotches with a Hodgon leaning back in our easy chairs. The guy looks the part.

Why did I say Michael I knew it was Adam. There was no question they were both caught in between crosses and shots intentionally and it worked. Much like when you swing in a free kick hoping either someone will get a touch or it will sail the whole way through.

from Oli Kay's (Times of London) twitter
    http://twitter.com/oliverkaytimes

@oliverkaytimes Reliably informed that #lfc thought very seriously about bidding for Clint Dempsey a couple of years ago, incidentally

    never heard about that one

Yeah, I have both the GOLtv and the ESPN calls saved on my desktop for repeat viewing. One of the coolest moments in YA history.

That sure would've been a crappy cross. Zamora isn't going to be able to do anything with something lofted that high. The last clip to me shows it the best. No question it was a shot.

Fun Fact, Dempsey has more caps for Fulham than anybody else on the squad.

Well he's been there longer than any other Fulham player, so that makes sense.

You hear his interview, it does seem to suggest it was a "cross-shot" i.e. a shot that plays the percentages.
