Maybe a lot of us always knew that he had it in him.

Let's hope it continues, well into the future. It's in his best interests.

I'd opt for the Fish and Chips, and not just on Fridays.

He's a little bit hyperactive, and hates to sit on the bench.

You should explain to folks here about the "Everton 2 Liverpool 1" addresses.
I don't quite have all those facts.
    But quite interesting.

I thought his celebration was a bit subdued because he was still stinging over last week's miss, i.e. that goal would have meant at least a point, and this one is simply icing.

I know that's pure speculation, but I've been watching Donovan for years and I've never seen a reaction like that from him. I got a distinct whiff of coulda-shoulda.

But huge congrats to LD. What a send off.

Everton opened up a new store in the city centre this summer, after the other one had been closed down the summer before. The new shopping centre it's in is called Liverpool One. So Everton named the shop located there "Everton Two" and renamed the shop by Goodison Park to "Everton One" as part of the rebranding of our deals with Le Coq Sportif and Kitbag, who now run our retailing.

This means the address of the shop reads as:

    Everton Two,
    Liverpool One..

    :D

I would argue (though it's not all that valid in this instance) that the MLS may be cutting off its nose to spite it's face in dragging its feet on the transfer desires of certain players. We are now losing the bulk of the quality youngsters this country develops immediately to Europe. Why? Well because Europe pays well, and has the best leagues and competition. MLS can't be blamed for that. However, if the MLS were seen as a league that worked with players to get them promoted, instead of holding firmly onto said players like they're playing Bogie's role in the Treasure of the Sierra Madre, more young players might consider the MLS a viable option as they work their way up to making it big in Europe. Instead, young players basically view MLS as an obstacle to their dreams, unless they simply aren't good enough to cut it, yet, at the European level.

I don't envy how MLS handles this problem, but I do think it behooves them to think seriously about how tough a bargain they should drive when keeping guys who clearly want to transfer to Europe.

Hopefully we'll find out on June 12th....

    :)

Really glad to see Donovan get a good send off from the Everton home-crowd. Really disappointed to see Altidore absolutely stranded out there. Ugh, that was rough to watch....

As a Galaxy and USMNT fan, the good news for me is -- regardless of what happens with Donovan's status - I win. :)

I've thought the same thing. The current rules regarding under-18s in Europe mean that MLS will get most of the Luis Gil types still, though. I doubt too many kids are going to want to take the Gyau Hoffenheim/Whitecaps route. Among the college kids, very few will be Europe ready straight out of college, so they'll get most of those guys too. Unless you've got people like Charlie Davies willing to stick it out in Scandinavia, MLS is sort of the only option.

That's my attitude, too. It's really true. Being a fan of Donovan is a sweet proposition these days.

One thing I want to say about Landon's loan spell...after the first 2 weeks or so, he has been locking down his side defensively. He and Baines or he and Neville are making most opponents disbalanced, and that's been key for Everton.
Everton usually play with a passer in the middle of the park. The US usually plays with Bradley and a DM. Baby Bradley is a fine player, but he's more of a Tim Cahill type goal scorer than an Arteta or Feilhaber like stringpuller. If the US played a 4-5-1 and played with a central midfield of Edu/Clark, Bradley, and Feilhaber (or Torres) that would more closely approximate how Everton does things.

    It's an interesting comparison/contrast.

Tis true. I'm no longer in angst where he plays. I'm just having fun watching him wherever.

See? I was telling people since 2006 that LD was World Class, and no one seemed to believe me. I was mocked, taunted, pointed at and laughed at.

And now, he's shining in one of the Top 3 leagues in the world.

If Dempsey is paired with Altidore this summer, he won't be deployed as high as Jozy. Then, hopefully, we'll get to see the best of both worlds.
