Donovan's been making passes like that since u17. Now he has teammates who have the tactical sense and technical ability to get on the end of them.
This has been said many times, but the Everton attack and personel fit Donovan's skill set perfectly.

Altidore was fairly anonymous, but I don't think he takes all the blame for it. I saw him open in a good position on several occasions only to be ignored or unnoticed.

I think he meant to kill it there for him but I think it might have bounced a little more than he meant it to.

The problem with that assessment is that many players in MLS are not MLS quality.

I was talking about the technique, not the decision. Most players just try getting the other player the ball. Landon not only sends, but he sends it in a way so that the ball lays up perfectly to strike.

Jozy isn't much of a super sub. I think he's better when he starts, beats up on the center backs for a while and then takes advantage.

The pass to Yakubu was as good as the one that set up the goal too. He was very effective today, to say the obvious.

Excellent match for Arteta as well. And Landon breaks out of his flu-induced mini-slump. It looks pretty certain at this point that's all it was.

Donovan tore up Spain, Brazil, and the EPL right out of MLS. Worries that he's going to suffer are ridiculous.

Donovan's assist on that 5th goal sealed it. Four goal lead or more = the Blowout Comb award goes to the losers.

Man, i feel bad for Jozy, he couldn't get any service whatsoever. Story of his season I guess.

    Great for Donovan, great player.

Let's not be stupid. It was a great chance. Nothing compared to LD's before, yet we've been through this. Yakubu couldn't score from 12, 10 or 8 today.

Yes. That's how you finish that chance. Perfect strike, absolutely perfect. That's the sort of strike, when you barely feel the ball touch your foot and you know the transfer of energy is 100%.

Wasn't perfect by any means. Rodwell's finish made it look better than it was. No-one wants a cut back flicked up to them.

Rodwell and Donovan's celebration was brilliant. Big Jack just picking him up like a bag of sand. I'd like to see Bruce Arena come get him back off Jack. You want him back, you have to earn him back!

Agreed. My reasons for wanting him to stay at Everton are purely selfish - I enjoy watching him on this stage.

But as a player, I feel he'll be fine either in MLS or the Prem.

One moment he stepped up, intercepted a ball, fed it wide...and then practically begged to get it sent back to him only to be ignored. Hull really sucks. He needs to get out of there

Amazing game for Donovan. Comes in as a substitute. Nails a one touch goal. Then proceeds with the most unselfish play of the match and gives Rodwell the assist for a goal.

I feel bad for Jozy, their midfield had no hope, and no vision to get the ball forward.

Timmy had a strong game. Big saves in the first half!

The pass to Yakubu was perfect though - very impressed how he put it on his foot with 3 defenders around him - had to be inch perfect to get to him. The finish there not so nice.
