Everton, Landon and Timmy take on Jozy and the **********cats in what could be LD's last home match at Goodison Park. Game is slated to kick off at 11am ET, and is being shown on FSC in the US. All three are likely to start. Edit: Love how the censor won't let me say **********cats. Oh well, there goes my joke....
Biggest Yank v. Yank game ever? We have IMO 3 of the 5 most important USMNT players playing in one match.
Landon, Altidore, and Timmy are the three most well known Americans in the Premier League. The chances for an American to shine in this match are statistically greater thusly, making this match more important to watch. Also Landon's last match in the Premiership for a while. Personally I have been looking forward to this match for more than a long time. A dream scenario would be to see Landon and Altidore both score. If I had to pick a team, I would go for Everton. They are in better form. Unfortunately I am a fan of both teams because of Landon and Jozy so it is hard to choose. Would be happy with a good performance from Jozy.
Do you think Altidore is more known in the Premiership than Dempsey? Or Friedel? Then again, with that accent, is Friedel really a Yank? No matter, I totally agree that this is a huge match from a YA-watcher's perspective and I am looking forward to a good one.
Donovan went 70 on Wed, his third weekend/mid-week run in a row and has started the last two games on the bench for Everton. Not saying he won't start but I think he has started to look tired and I don't think its a lock. Jozy went 90 on Wed, again, not saying he won't start but I don't think its a lock (and with Brown you never know anything for sure). I'll go out on limb and say Tim gets the start and Landon and Jozy come off the bench. Anyway, we'll know in less than four hours and I would expect all three to play, just maybe not start.
Yeah, I thought I read somewhere that he had the flu and that was why he didn't get the start against Tottenham.
I thought it was just the last game v. Tottenham that he came off the bench. That said, I won't be surprised if he's on the bench today.
Yep, starts on the bench. starting 11 vs Hull. Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Heitinga, Anichebe, Osman, Arteta, Pienaar, Yakubu Subs: Nash, Yobo, Bilyaletdinov, Donovan, Gosling, Rodwell, Hibbert. Bummer.
Altidore is not in the XI. Jimmy Bullard returns, however, and Zaki is the lone striker. Tigers: Boaz Myhill, Paul McShane, Kamil Zayatte, Steven Mouyokolo, Kevin Kilbane, Richard Garcia, Jimmy Bullard, George Boateng, Tom Cairney, Nick Barmby, Amr Zaki. Subs: Matt Duke, Liam Cooper, Seyi Olofinjana, Geovanni, Kamel Ghilas, Jozy Altidore, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
Good God, it's like there's a concerted effort to not play Americans in games we can actuallyt get on TV...
And I actually got up in the middle of the night for this? Hoping Donovan comes on as a halftime sub, most optimistically and realistically, for this one.
Ives and Grant Wahl both reporting that Bob Bradley is at this game. So that's Ives, Grant, Bob and Steve Davis all there to see the Americans....and 2/3 of them start on the bench.
It looks like Moyes is trying to get THIS lineup to click. It also looks like he does not like Bily at all.
