Has anyone on here done it?

While I go to a nice school and live in a okay town, I need a change of scenery and I want to study at a different school.

I already know what school I'd like to transfer to and it's the University of Michigan. What I need advice on is what measures need to be done and anything else that needs to be taken care of.

    Thanks in advance all.

For a school like that you generally need to apply in advance so check the deadline dates and requirements both generally and for your department. You might also want to call their Registry/Records and see if all your classes and hours will be accepted, and get an official copy of your present transcripts together and see if you can line up a couple of your present teachers for good recommendations.

Good fortune, a high quality school, though they play shit basketball:D

U of Michigan is an evil place - I'd stay away. They're Meeeeechigan, and they employ a man named Dick Rod. Do you really want to go to school at a place like that? You know you don't.

Cool thanks lobo. It helps that one of my professors works for the Wall Street Journal.

As for basketball, I supported the Pistons during the teal era. I can put up with UM being average/poor. I actually saw your Lobos play the other day.

Pah, Columbus which is about as interesting as washing the dishes or Ann Arbor where the only downside is the hipsters but it doesn't affect the town as a whole?

Um.......Columbus is actually a great place to be 20. Ann Arbor is tougher, because while its a fun college town its really expensive. (It has more shrinks per capita than any other place in the US.) And there are hipsters everywhere.

Heh, was trying to make fun of OSU and Ohio in general.

I've been to Columbus, nice town. Prefer Ann Arbor but that's just me.

Pffft, that's because you went there. :p

I did consider transferring out of state and while I'd like to, I'd like to be able to buy food.

On an unrelated note I dropped off a resume for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I did it. Two years in Houston was enough for me. UH (Univ of Houston) had a pretty decent Poli Sci program but most of my classes had 200+ students and other than pretty Texan girls, Houston had absolutely nothing to offer. hated it!!

I moved to Central Florida to St Leo U, small private college between Tampa and Orlando with most of the students there that just thrived on Birkenstock's, tie die T-shirts, and long hippie hair. Though that wasn't my thing, I did manage to see the Grateful Dead 3 times while I was there. Small, everyone knew everyone and it was a great change.

Loads of fun and best choice I ever made. I liked it so much I opted to stay for an additional year, also known as "The 5 Year Plan".;)

Dropped off. They had a table at a career fair that was being hosted at the Pistons arena. Told them I was looking for a summer internship in public relations. They told me that they were looking for interns. That was a week ago.

Holy crap! I am pretty sure I will be working at PNC Park full-time this summer. We might be seeing a lot of each other.

If they accept you, where will you be living? Will you be going to Pitt?

Haven't figured that out yet. Have never been to Pittsburgh let alone Pennsylvania. Though if you know of any good areas for a student let me know mate.

Don't know about Pitt, will probably just focus on the internship for the summer.

Many areas. If you get the internship you can stay with me for a week if you need to find an apartment. I have an extra guest room. There's a lot of areas for a student to live. You'd probably want to be in Oakland (where Pitt is, funny as you're leaving the MI version), South Side, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Highland Park, Morningside (where I live). People might try to sell you on the North Side (where the stadium is) but I wouldn't recommend it. Like I said, if you get the job, I'll drive you around and help you get situated. You can become like the third Chelsea supporter in Pittsburgh.

Ha! Although, speaking from experience, CA is pretty awesome. And while I wouldn't necessarily reccomend you go to OSU, I'd heartily endorse Berkeley.

I'd love to go to school in CA and I love the place but I couldn't afford it.
