I noticed LD is finding the rhythm of the EPL. He's getting better to play slowly/quickly, hold it, one-touch it, dribble into space, etc. whereas his first few games seemed to get caught in traffic a lot.

Also, what incredible timing this loan turned out to be. Putting aside this great run Everton are on, he's been able to get games over a couple "off-season" months against Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, and a couple of UEFA games to boot.

I don't think route one is his problem. He lofts the odd pass and he's not an amazing long passer as some players in the Premier League are, it's just as a fullback (which is no longer his main psotion anyway) he doesn't have the attacking sensibilties of the modern type in that postion. I think Donovan's real problem with playing with Neville is that he wasn't being released quickly enoguh with the sharp short balls.

A player who's forte is the counter attack like Donovan wants to be released as quickly as possible, whereas Neville was playing more with a view to the slow build-up.

On the flip side if Liverpool want to pay for him and you guys don't...I might lose some respect for Everton. He's working out too well for them and they could have another 4 to 6 quality seasons out of him.

It might not be through want of trying though mate. We don't have a whole load of money, and MLS might just throw up an auction. If so, we have a very low chance of getting him.

He didn't have much of a choice. If anything, it was Lalas's.

And they're not rivalries like the Everton-Liverpool.

With so much speculation around Landon staying at Everton for a period, can someone start a thread in the yanks abroad forum regarding any new dealings on any extension talks? Or should it go in the original thread?

Just want to stay up to date on the dealings that are occuring!

I understand that if Landon goes for 20 million pounds or something, but if its $10 to $15 million you guys should get him. But you never know.

I suspect we'd be in for him at that price. The fans would be pressing hard for it, as they already are!

Maybe that was just the flu. According to Moyes, after you've had it 4 or 5 times, you don't ooze anymore. :D

I thought I would be over it by the time I got home from work, but dangit, I'm still stoked on Landy's (and Everton's) run of recent form. Super fun to watch - and us USA fan don't get this kind of thing that often.

    So frick it,

Now I've got something to remember the good times by! This should get me through the next Adu-at-Monaco-type lowpoint.

Lol, then is that osman or pienaar's flailing hands at the bottom trying to head, what is for Fletcher, a knee-high ball.

I liked it too. Donovan doesn't really run at people as often as he should on the wings, but he loves to check back for the ball and redistribute. Also, his speed and high pressure for the ball would be hell for holding DMids.

That looks like a scene from a zombie movie.

It's Neville (the red one) on the ground.

Quality game from Donovan (who knows what game Sam Hamwich was watching). Came out in an attacking mode, making 2 or 3 runs in the first few minutes with the ball at his feet, and never really looked back. Was involved in the offense all game, plus his defense (with his speed particularly) is a big help to Everton overall.

Great game by Everton overall. Donovan is rapidly becoming a bit of a legend at Everton, considering the big games he has played in and the big wins, even if he's only going to be there for 10 weeks.

Just watched the game. Very fun offensive display by Everton. That goal by Bily - wow. We would all be dead if Donovan did that! The other two were very nice too from the youngsters. Congratulations to the Everton team. They are in wonderful form, I couldn't pick out anyone who didn't have a good game. That's the problem for their opponents - they can't cover every player all the time.

Stillkickin and Arteta's Girl, I ask you, why can't we have a shirt off on every goal!?!?! It's not right.

I would be shocked if Rafa would be really interested in LD. I don't see how he would fit into the squad at all and really would not see the pitch much there, especially with Benayoun around.... He seems like a player whom Rafa would sign only to play lesser talent in front of him, since that seems to be his m.o. this season. Rafa mat sign him just to thumb his nose at Everton, but I don't think that we have the funds anyway.

    Stay in Everton, Donovan.

Yeah... could anyone have predicted his loan would be this wildly successful? Everton has been dominant. They really have some talent on that team, and Donovan slotted in perfectly. If they can hold on to him and stay healthy next season, they'll make a legitimate run at Champion's League.
