Typical luck of Mohamed everything served but let it go. A pity because it looked like Colón could've brought some spice. Congrats Católica. Also Libertad should feel ashamed, the first half is about to end and still they couldn'T score over Lanús' paper-thin defense.
And very much the match is over now. When matches turn like this Lanús can't score to dave their life. But hey! It's likely this week will result fatal for Zubeldia. Also don't be surprised if Libertad scores a third or fourth goal.
Solo pude ver el Cerro 2 - 0 Dep. Quito, los de Cerro manejan bien la pelota. Lanús parece demostrar que no es "equipo copero", porque tienen buenos jugadores... ¿Por qué no tapa Toselli en Católica?

I still think that Lanús doesn't have the maturity to play the Libertadores, that and their notable lacks, their defense must be one of the worst defenses of argentine football. I always say how bad are Estudiantes' centrebacks, yes, but at least Estudiantes makes it up with their fullbacks, with Lanús not even that. It's likely Lanús won't make it past the groups stages even though they have a relatively easy group. Seeing the situation with Lanús, i'm wondering how will Banfield face their match seeing that they meet eachother on Saturday? Maybe Banfield will take it easy now and take the chance to destroy Lanús afterwards(I think a negative result on Saturday for Lanús means bye bye Zubeldia). It could be the same with Vélez seeing they face San Lorenzo on Sunday. Of the argentine clubs, in my opinion the ones that can make it farther are Vélez and Estudiantes, then Banfield and Newell's(If they qualify) remain as an enigma, and then Lanús that won't go anywhere.
se lesiono por un buen tiempo y Garces le quito el puesto. Hace poco hubo polemica porque el DT de Catolica dijo que era el 3er arquero..
My preview of Group Three https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/blog.php?b=7570 1) Estudiantes 2) Bolivar 3) Juan Aurich 4) Alianza Lima
Today I am waiting to see Morelia vs Banfield and then after that Sao Paulo vs Monterrey can any of you give me some info on Banfield's attack and maybe also on Sao Paulo's attack, is Cicinho available to play for Sao paulo for this afternoons game I know he is on loan from AS Roma?
I was just going to start reviewing their group. Losing Silva has to be a huge problem for them. Banfield won the title basically on the strength of their defense and the opportunistic goalscoring of Silva. They were a very low scoring team for a Champion, and Silva scored most of their goals. So, they remain a good defensive team, but somebody is going to have to pick up the scoring slack, or else they won't go too far.
Hard to tell yet, Banfield starters only played a single match(their 1-0 win at the Monumental over River) their second match was suspended at the 8th minute due rain and on their third match all the 11 starting players were substitutes. Other than the rest is the same(and Mendez but he retired), with the promising young colombian, James Rodríguez, the uruguayan Sebastián "Papelito" Fernandez, a known fellow for mexicans Walter Ervitti, still got to see if Rubén Rámirez can replace Silva. The captain of the team is the former Santos Laguna keeper Cristián Luchetti.
Banfield a city in the Lomas de Zamora partido, -partido is roughly the equivalent of a county in the USA- , on the sprawling suburbs that are on the south side of the city of Buenos Aires. Right next to the city of Lanus. In fact Banfield and Lanus are fierce derby rivals, it's interesting that they both made Libertadores the same year.
fernandez seemed to have sick up his role. But is too early to say so....just 3 games in argie Liga so far, and one vs River the grp of sao pablo y monterrey se define por goles ojo que el equipo paraguayo, bacional de almeida - es muy flojo en defensa, los del 11caldas perdonaron 6 veces delante del portero
You can tell both want to do better than the other one...itll be exciting to see...though idk Lanus didnt look so hott last night
If you could make one team out of the two, with Banfield's defense and some of Lanus creative players, then you'd have a very good team.
Banfield won 2-1 over Morelia. Two different matches in two different halves. On the first half Morelia dominated though not really dangerous for Banfield's defense. Banfield looked slow and imprecise on the first half. Things improved greatly with more participation of James Rodríguez on the second half and a questionable red card for a Monarcas player helped, but on the second half Banfield definitely looked a lot better. Still Banfield can do better and should do better than this if they intend to advance to the next stage. Alianza won 3-1 in La Paz, no idea how was the match because by the time i changed channels to check the score the referee did the final whistle. Only saw Bolivar supporters leaving the stadium...
Bolivar blew it. We came in playiung stale, no midfield. Alianza relied on only counter attacks. They held us up in the final 1/3 of the field, and in the second half we made a change for a defender in our 4-4-2 to throw in a mdifielder in charles da silva. This paid off and had us attacking very well in the second half frmo the beginning. We could have scored but came out unlucky. ALl it took was one counter attack, and alianza was up by a counterattacking nice goal by alianza off a cross, with a nice finish from their striker fernandez. We also made a sub for another younger beter forward in for a brasilian we have, anderson gonzaga, who to me isnt that good. Our young forward made a difference, but not enough yet for a goal. Our defense messes up, when we have the ball, fernandez pressures the defender Mendez, he loses the ball, 2-0 point blank goal closer then the PK spot. We start to crumble, and finally win a PK. 2-1 with a couple minutes to finish the game. We again get caught on a nice counter attack, Colombian midfielder shoots outside the box on a low nicely slotted shot, to the left corner. 3-1. We are done, embarrassed, and shamed by a good team, that knew how to attack and defend. Bolivar needs to shape up, or else we are dead meat IMO in the hardest group of this libertadores.
