even Sinner may have to dust the cobwebs off his wallet and get one.... The last time he got excited about a shirt this wonderful was when Def Leopard came to town back in 1989, and sported the new wifebeater shirt.
You have been wearing the same stryper t-shirt since 1986 . and your infamous ace tight jordache jeans and triple velcro strap reeboks
So what you are telling me is that Lion is really a redneck Spazzo with a picture of Landy Cakes on his wall. America f%^K yeah
Seriously though, the new kit is spectacular... Has that vintage look that brings a lot of appeal to it.
Props to Umbro....they have really risen their game and introduced some amazing kit lately. I just picked up a a new set of boots (Umbro) and they are amazing.
Yeah, I will be ordering 2 of the long sleeved kits for me and my son. I imagine P.C. and others will be getting theirs too. It's a nice one.
I'm still not sure if I like it or not...it's simple, yet classy and certainly maintains that old school look, but it's almost too simple for me. TBF, it took me a while to warm up to the home kit, and I'm really liking the look of that these days.
My understanding is that Nike has kept their hands off Umbro and allowed them to continue with business as usual.
That is correct. Nike operates Umbro as a stand alone affiliate brand. To my knowledge, the recent kits, home and away, are a tailored design specifically for England, using only Umbro creativity..
There is a clear difference in quality since Nike took over. at least on the England front. They can say they are playing hands off, but there is a reason why Nike kits and the England "Umbro" kits have leaked together. Am I to believe there has been no turnover in the work force since Nike took over?
Home and Away are both great looking kits and I have to say launching with Kasabian onstage is pretty genius. Well done.
I like these quotes from Chris Nee of Two Tooted Tackle via the Umbro blog. “It’s difficult to look ahead to June and World Cup 2010 without my brain automatically filling itself with that iconic image of Bobby Moore holding the old trophy aloft in 1966 – only now, Rio Ferdinand’s face is transplanted onto the front of the great man’s head. I suppose that makes me a football heretic. But it’s really more down to the fact that I have no other glorious point of reference as an England supporter. There have been no other trophies, precious few moments of unbridled, patriotic joy. When David Beckham’s crucial equaliser flew in against Greece at Old Trafford, my cheer could have woken the dead. England don’t do that to me very often. Have another look at that iconic photograph. Where is your eye drawn? Bobby’s face? The trophy? Wembley in the background? Of course it isn’t – you’re looking at the badge sitting proudly on that beautiful, classy red shirt. Looks fantastic, doesn’t it?.... ....Combined with the home shirt, the new away kit screams class and nostalgia. In a world where top-level football is all about money and instant success, the current approach to the national team is refreshing. The clobber is fantastic, the manager is old-school and the players are routinely put in their place." http://blog.umbro.com/
