The first spoilers of the new kit have been released by Umbro. Not surprisingly they are using the same marketing and design ideas as with the Home kit launch last year - the Tailored in England theme. Easily predicted the shirt would be traditional, or retro to some people, which means minimalist and being very similar to England's away kits in the years 1954, 1956, 1961-74. You can sort of see from the pics that the shirt will have a round neck(hinted to be slightly V) and only have the crest and umbro logo on the shirt. You can see more on the interactive Umbro site - http://www.umbro.com/#/away/?locale=en_GB Personally I think this is the way England kits should look and I can't wait till I get mine on 3 March. Launch day is 10 Feb.
It's really subtle but there. I think the designer didn't want to take away from the design aesthetic and just rather have the crest stand alone. I can see where he's coming from but people will say, what's the point of even putting it on the shirt then? I'd say, it's not doing any harm like that anyway. I've heard plenty people complain about the star since they started using it recent years and we also had people complain about the 'England' text above the crest as well until they changed it last year. You can't please everyone.
I hope all future kits are similar to this, they look much better than the old kits we have been used to.. the 2007-2009 home kits were truly disgusting
Love the classic look. I am a big fan of the most recent home kit, and I'm sure this one will be just as nice. Looking forward to getting the new one for myself and the kiddos.
Launch day is 10 Feb with pre-order on now. 3 March they're on general sale and England will be wearing them when they play Egypt at Wembley the same day.
Haha, result! I have an interview that day for another job. I'll go to the shops and see what it's like. I wonder how much I'll make out of my present one selling it on ebay? I'm still disappointed about the star bit though - it may be a little thing but it carries huge significance in terms of its meaning.
Umbro has gone away with the gold star with the classic kits. The home kit has a threaded white star to match the shirt, I'm assuming they will continue the trend with a threaded red star to match the shirt for the new away.
Cannot wait to get my hands on the new kit. Love the new home kit....it is the most comfortable kit I have ever worn.
Still haven't bought the new home jersey. Shame on me. Looks like it's going to be another banger though. Umbro have gone about the task brilliantly. The home kit gets better everytime you see it. The Away looks to be more of the same.

Superb! They used Kasabian(one of my fav bands btw) to do an unorthodox launch in France of all places...haha.
Hi, question for you guys since I couldn't find an answer myself. Is England the only national team that LS' are sold to the public? Because I'm looking to buy the LS version of my national team's new jersies and I noticed for the new jersies England are the only ones available in LS. I even checked Euro 08 jerseys to see if they were made in LS but again only England ones were sold (I only checked on online shops that sell legit jersies, there might be some on eBay but I don't want rip offs.)
That's a good question. England has traditionally worn long sleeves and will always have that option to buy. I can't think of any other countries that normally do, but there must be some. For me it's gotta be long sleeved, especially with this shirt.
Yeah LS' look phenomenal. England (Umbro) and Italy (Puma) are the only ones I can find that sell LS' to the public. I'm starting to wonder if Nike and Adidas don't sell LS' because since they have so many NT's sponsored they don't want to bother because they make enough money anyway. Hopefully Adidas decides to make LS' for the new jersies that I want. (Germany)
I looked around different sites and couldn't find any others. Kitbag only shows short but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I suppose the best option is to go to the website of a particular country and check. I have to say, Umbro and the FA have done an absolute brilliant job the last few years of marketing England products and providing excellent customer service and options. I don't think anyone else has come close from what I've seen.
Yeah the DFB online fanshop only sells SS so I'm thinking they won't make LS available. If I were to try and get them in LS I would have to get them off eBay but that isn't an option for me, I only buy authentic jersies and with eBay there is a good chance they won't be legit. Yeah I am very jealous of the availabiltity of products given to fans by the FA. xD
