Palace UK has just been placed into administration. This will mean any one who's interested in purchasing the club will get it on the cheap, as well as any rival clubs interested in Palace players will be able to sign them on the cheap until a buyer is found. The club will also be deducted 10 points taking them from the brink of the play-offs to just above the relegation zone.
This does not affect Crystal Palace Baltimore for this season, but I must admit, it does complicate things a bit. BTW, here's a link on the story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/crystal_palace/8481549.stm
That sucks - maybe Jim and Pete should step up and take a couple of the young guys on loan for the spring/summer - maybe a Baltimorean is still interested in buying the UK club. Wouldn't that be super cool.
Did anyone see Palace on WJZ last night... great press conference. Also Baltimore sun: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/blast/bal-sp.soccer28jan28,0,5970809.story Daily Record: http://mddailyrecord.com/2010/01/27/crystal-palace-is-looking-to-baseball-model/ I posted before but someone erased...Hmmm
Nah, it wasn't erased, dude. It was just moved to the proper topic, since it had to do with the press conference.
To add insult to injury: the League hit them with a 10 point penalty for going into administration so (as of this morning) they sunk down to 20th place with 27 points. They are just above the relegation zone now. I don't see them going down though, the players are showing a lot of heart and playing very well.
Apparently a consortium of locally-based businessmen are interested in taking the club over. They have a combined wealth of approximately £265m. http://www.sportcroydon.co.uk/footb...-takeover/article-1804242-detail/article.html
Clark Hunt is frontunner to buy the club: http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=6396&headline=EXCLUSIVE:
