Am I missing something? The name does not refer to organizaed labor? Why are calling our sections "locals"? Should be called The 137th Ranger Regiment (George Washington) or Union Army 137th Regiment Each regiment or section can have a different flag like the Union Army!
Union Army Regiments and Section Flags - I say Drop "Locals" tag! Am I missing something? The name does not refer to organizaed labor? Why are calling our sections "locals"? Should be called The 137th Ranger Regiment (George Washington) or Union Army 137th Regiment Each regiment or section can have a different flag like the Union Army! Example: http://standbesideher.blogspot.com/2...-regiment.html Their is a reason we have 13 stars on our logo! We are not organizaed labor! Sorry for the new thread this title makes more sense.
Re: Locals? Philadelphia Union's primary colors are navy blue and gold, representing the Continental Army's uniforms during the American Revolutionary War. The light blue in the middle of the badge is derived from the civic flag of Philadelphia and is a tribute to the Sons of Ben supporters club. The team's primary crest is circular, symbolizing unity. The thirteen gold stars displayed along the base of the crest represent the original Thirteen Colonies, while the shield's contour derives from the Philadelphia coat of arms. The rattlesnake featured in the center of the shield pays homage to a political cartoon by Benjamin Franklin that was featured in multiple editions of the Pennsylvania Gazette in the 1750s. The rattlesnake became a national symbol during the American Revolution, representing the danger of disunity, and was featured on the Gadsden flag. Union's secondary logo also features the rattlesnake, along with the motto "JUNGITE aut PERITE", a Latin phrase meaning "JOIN or DIE", which was displayed by Franklin in his cartoons along with the rattlesnake.

Re: Locals? I'm a huge history nut, specifically the Civil War. The white cross in my avatar (where I wrote in 137) was the flag/symbol for the Union Army 6th Corps, 2nd Division during the Civil War. It was under the 6th Corps that the Pennsylvania 137th Regimen fought during the Civil War. In fact at the Antietam Battlefield, the Cross is the symbol on the 137th's Memorial Monument. It's my own thing, and I don't expect people to follow along, but since there have been Revolutionary/Civil War connections, I thought it was kind of fitting.
Re: Locals? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Brigade http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Civil_War_Corps_Badges There's also The Philadelphia Brigade. They mostly fought under the 2nd Corps, 2nd Division. Their symbol would be a white trefoil. The flag would be a white trefoil surrounded by blue. If anyone wants to use any of that kinda stuff.
Re: Union Army Regiments and Section Flags - I say Drop "Locals" tag! The team has explained the meaning of "Union" that they will present. That doesn't mean that other meanings cease to exist or that fans are required to ignore them. The team wasn't named after the Duran Duran song "Union of the Snake" either, but people have talked about adapting that. Plus, "Local 138" is catchy. What's the problem?
Re: Union Army Regiments and Section Flags - I say Drop "Locals" tag! Well if we do decide to do some civil war stuff dont forget to add in the confederates as well.
Re: Union Army Regiments and Section Flags - I say Drop "Locals" tag! ...but our team is the Philadelphia UNION. Remember?
Re: Union Army Regiments and Section Flags - I say Drop "Locals" tag! But no way in hell am I putting on a Yankee hat. Besides I already have the grey stuff
