    ...ticket requests.
    http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/ticketing/news/newsid=1162835.html#two+million+tickets+sold+2010+fifa+world+cup+south+africa

    USA - 50,217 applications
    UK - 41,529
    Australia - 15,523
    Mexico - 14,804
    Germany - 14,647
    Brazil - 10,767

While they appear to be factoring in requests for other countries tickets that originated from the US and A, I find it fascinating that for a sport so under-supported in this country we would have more requests than even England and after those 2 the drop off is massive. But also consider this in England's case:

Add to this the fact that South Africa does not hate America or Americans like some nations. I've been there and am returning later this week and speak from experience. Our games at the WC2010 may feel more like a home game than the Home Depot Center when playing (insert name of any Latin American nation here).

But most of those tickets from the US are probably by fans of the OTHER TEAMS, not ours. We have lots of immigrants and our general population is much bigger than that of England, so that data would be consistent with the US having more tickets sold.

Yeah you might as well add some of the USA tickets and put it in the Mexico category. Not being racist or saying anything against Mexican fans it's just probably true. Very big Mexico national team fan base in the United States as a lot of us know.

and Mexican national team fans that simply enjoy a higher economic status than many in Mexico and would have the disposable income to actually afford SA.

probably true and sucks at the same time....not to disrespect any of the other teams but it would be nice if those 50,000+ tickets were for the country they live in :-(

but i can't blame anyone..if i was to go live in another country I would still support the USA. so its all good

all these numbers are determined, by how much money the countries ppl have lol :) It's the truth in the u.s. you don't know a real recession, I'm not bragging about being poor or anything just saying, more money that u.s. ppl have equals more request... but I'm sure brazil would be first if they had more money ya know?
