Was there an election last night? I overheard some co-workers talking, by the watercooler, about some sort of election.

I thought to myself that it is the middle of January, so that can't be right. Anyway, I figured the brilliant minds of Big Soccer could fill me in. Who is Scott Brown & what election did he supposedly win?

Is this suppose to be a GOP celebration thread?

    If so, have at it!

He drives a truck, which shows he has more competence than MArtha Coakley and her campaign team.

He drives a truck...which according to Keith Olbermann, means he is a racist and opposed civil rights reform.

Scott Brown (born 25 June 1985 in Dunfermline, Fife) is a Scottish association football player, currently playing for Scottish Premier League club Celtic. Brown, who started his professional career with Hibernian, is a regular in the Scottish national team. His transfer to Celtic from Hibs in the summer of 2007 broke the record for the biggest transfer fee paid between two Scottish clubs.[1]

Scott Brown made Hibs some good money in his transfer to Celtic. It has been rumored that he is leaving to go South, but Mowbray denies it.

This is our country folks. In 2007, 90% of americans said that health care needed "fundamental change" or " a complete overhaul".

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/03/01/opinion/polls/main2528357.shtml

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/01/washington/01cnd-poll.html

In 2006, 69% of Americans tell Gallup researchers that access to health care is the responsibility of the federal government.

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/4708/healthcare-system.aspx

And yesterday, the bluest of blue states, Massachusetts, elected a conservative republican senator who ran on his commitment to vote against health care reform.

Honestly, if this is what you want Steamer, have it. I and my family will be fine. We are relatively well off New Yorkers with decent health coverage and we are more or less insulated from the financial risks that life presents to so many. So it's not that important to me personally.

Best of luck to you and your conservative utopia.

    Good one!
I also had a good chuckle at Rachel Maddow & Chris Mathews trying to explain the reuslt. According to Mr. Maddow, this had little, if anything, to do with Obama/healthcare/general dissatisfaction & more to do with Coakley's bad campaign. Riiiiiight.

There's loads of 'blame' to go around.

But the fact she had two campaign offices open to Brown's five shows that Maddow and Mathews aren't too far off.

    Who is Scott Brown?

    Let's see, he's a handsome, young politician.

    He served in the military.

He represents Massachusetts in the Senate.

He was for something (namely, universal healthcare--he voted to pass Romneycare) before he was against it.

As far as I can tell, he's John Kerry.

So congratulations, Senator-Elect Senator Kerry, on your recent victory!

Maybe they voted against a particular welfare reform bill, not against health care reform itself. That is, if we assume that health care reform was the main reason for the results of the election.

Why waste time listening to those people? They don't live in the real world. There was some great tennis on ESPN 2 last night.

Please try to make the point that Scott Brown posed naked without showing a picture of a naked Scott Brown. It's not appropriate for this board. Thank you.

    1) The pic was PG-13 at worst and not a TOS violation

    2) Did you have to erase the comments too?

I know people are trying to make a political point, but it's still a naked man. It sets precedent and is not appropriate for this forum.

I'll put your comment back, I accidentally deleted it when I was taking out the picture. And don't post a pic of Shep Messing either.
