Re: 2009-2010 Offseason 'p1v' concerns? player 1 visa? peter 1 vermes? punting 1 vixen? planning 1 vault?
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason P1 Visa. Different types of Visa depending on what reason you are here. A P1 is for entertainers/athletes.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason Same thing that all our signings the past few years (Trujillo, Hirsig, etc) have waited on.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason just got back from nyc.....i haven't talked to peter today, so that's my caveat, but nothing to the herron stuff.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason OK...which one of you guys pulled the Herron stuff from MLSRumors? Glad to see this one is not coming true.....
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason draft only via text message for me this year. stadium designs and permits to do!!
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason We love your priority list, Robb! Silver lining on the crap weather--it should start thawing next week. Maybe the paperwork will be signed and sealed by then and frozen dirt can start moving.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason So why can NY announce their new signing today??? You would think their would be a consistent standard on this. From the press release on their website...
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason Different lawyers? We have announced players in the past before their P-1 Visas were through (Marinelli, Trujillo, and Hirsig). No clue why this time the team isn't.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason Iasked Peter about this yesterday. Lawyers prefer to keep it less complicated. If you have announced the signing already, the visa granting people may look at it more critically. The lawyer (league lawyer I think) the Wizards work with is new to them but they think is doing a good job. New York and a few other teams have been bit by announcing players that then do not get approved or have lengthy issues to resolve. Vermes and the Wizards are taking the advice of the visa lawyer and keeping it quite unlike New York.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason http://voices.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2010/01/perkins_to_mls.html Complete random speculation on my part, but since Hartman is out of contact (according to Thad's interview with Vermes) I thought I'd throw this out there. Troy Perkins appears to be on his way back to MLS. We are 4th in the allocation order, Philly just traded allocation money to bring in Seitz as their keeper and have Knighton so they seem unlikely to use their allocation on another keeper. New York would be a good possibility at the 2 spot in the allocation order. SJ doesn't seem likely with Cannon still under contract, which leads to us at the 4 spot. Could we try and get Perkins and then trade Hartman's rights to a team that needs a keeper (DC is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head)?
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I know Hartman isn't young, but for a Goalkeeper he has plenty of years left. He is one of the few players of real quality on our team ... I'd hate to see him get traded ...
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason Take Perkins with an agreement to trade him to DC and we keep Hartman. DC would rather have Perkins anyway.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason +1 on both. Kevin has saved our collective asses on many, many occasions. We need to sign him to a new deal as quickly as possible. Keller and Onstad are still playing at a high level and are several years older....Kevin should have many more good years left in him.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason the only reason that we should take Perkins is if his contract would be cheaper than Hartman's. Other than that there is no reason to let him go.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason nope but it is interesting that the user who changed his article seems to have some real knowledge of the Gabon national team. He is a D-Mid and played 90 minutes today in Gabon's 1-0 win over Cameroon
