In case you needed to know what fuels the right wing these days, take a look at the second comment quoted below. It's just jealousy and insecurity.

Biggest freaking LIAR to ever hold the office, but at least he’s a “certified intellectual” or so we’re told by the Manhattan trash of America.

It may be an embarrassment for Obama, but really to hold the discussions in public is politically untenable. Our politicians will have to admit in negotiations certain things, and argue certain positions on behalf of their financial supporters, which they don't want their constituents to find out.

Truth is, Obama may have meant well when he made his promise, but now that it comes down to it, I think it is an impossible promise to keep.

Besides, from a practical standpoint, holding the negotiations in public would be counterproductive, as we'd most likely see politicians posturing more and negotiating less.

This thread is so weak I had to add just a little more nothing.

Funny, because he gets so much criticism from liberals, the only ones calling him messiah are on the extreme right. They must have little faith in their own messiah.

Jealousy and insecurity on hyperbolic scare-oids, actually:

Obama is a liar. The Dems will lose power in 2010. Obama will be out of office
by 2012. I pray our Country will survive this tryanny.

    Or this gem:

Petty dictators are always thus. And they always practice the oldest form of government. Funny how they claim “he so smart!” when in reality he makes George Bush look like a genius.

Who is the extreme right's own Messiah? And why would that prevent the use of sarcasm regarding President Obama?

Maybe Rush? But he kind of sucks as a Messiah. I mean, the guy doesn't even want to run for office.

At this point, it's almost impossible to politically categorize Obama. He just does whatever the hell he wants.

Although the thread title may be petty, isn't this a serious issue.

I mean isn't it likely there will be a public backlash against anything that comes out of negotiations that appear to be "secret".

Some congresspeople who will already be under fire from their base for compromising on certain key issues may find the pressure overwhelming to vote against something that appears to have been hatched in secret.

He hasn't raised taxes much or expanded government, as the Stimulus is purely temporary. Even the Health care Bill is essentially some regulations on the Healthcare Insurance Industry and paying for people to get coverage.

He has expanded a war, he has put even more pressure on civil liberties, he has continued to use the Patriot Act though.

Thank God we live in a world where political ideologies can be boiled down to simplistic binary, bumper-sticker friendly one-size-fits-all labels.

The clip wouldn't load for me. Are we talking about the negotiations to reconcile the House and Senate versions of the health care bill? If so, can anyone name any other bill where this process has been televised, or even open to the public? I'll bet not.

Jesus, of course. And your sarcasm is misplaced, because no one I know on the left considers Obama to be any kind of messiah, remotely. So I can only guess that perhaps the right wing makes the messiah comments to make their own messiah look better.

Well, Jesus doesn't need my help to look better.

But one Danish newspaper at least believes Obama>Jesus.

Normally, a formal conference negotiation is public information. However, the Democrats decided to not go that route to avoid Republican sabotage.
