Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) frozen a foot deep in Missouri in December after just a few weeks of cold temps??? No fricking way. And, if being below freezing for the next week doesn't really matter. It's not like if it gets up to 40 degrees ground frozen suddenly unthaws. I grew up in Montana. That's frozen ground--when in May you try to drive something into the ground and can't. I seriously doubt ground, once you get past the surface is frozen enough to effect any equipment or the building process in general. If there's clear weather (no snow or rain) and barring consistent below zero weather for the next month, construction, while perhaps a bit slower, should be able to proceed.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) They will have to work all next winter in order to open in July 2011, so I'm not really sure the cold is an issue, especially considering it actually isn't particularly cold. Frozen soil? I'm going with Beech here, that earth moving equipment shouldn't be fazed by ground that's been frozen for a few days.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) It is. Crews never work when the ground is this cold. It's very common. If anything, they probably accounted for a few days like this in the construction timeline. The bad part will be if they go all of January without being able to do some work. Also, those earth movers are primarily made to remove (or move) large quantities of dirt in a shorter period of time. Not dig thru anything and everything. While strong machines, they aren't as useful in cold, rock-hard dirt as one might think.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) I'm not sure where you are, but I am freezing my soccer balls off down here in SO JOCO!!!
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Not particularly cold? Tell that to the bank across the street from my house that keeps flashing a giant 7° F on their board out front.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) It isnt suppose to get out of the teens for at least a week. It is going to be awhile before we see any activity.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Has nothing to do with "frozen ground" more to do with temperatures below 20 which screws up the equipment. With all that said, wouldn't have been digging last week anyway. We are working through the erosion control plan, as well as getting our haul route approved for the dirt. Plenty of planning and design progressing. Will get a more complete update out soon. rh
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) So then basically the only reason to have equipment on site 2 weeks ago was for PR & photo opp purposes?
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) C'mon, Robb, how about a webcam? Civil engineers working on drawings, that's HOT.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) Wizards tell Populous to bring the noise at new soccer stadium...

Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) TMI, dude. You had better hope that the Portland game in KC is scheduled after the stadium opens sometime that season.......
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) I really don't want to be all raw, so yes, I had better hope.
Re: Wizards Stadium Discussion (Video update) They could always go back to the original blog, ballboybanter.blogspot.com. It looks like they've been using it for test posts, including one from today.
