Basically no one. I would love to see a NASL expansion team end up in there as that league expands.

At this point ,if San Jose can not get its act together as long as they the team stays in the area, I can care less where they play. I would love to see a stadium anywhere along the peninsula next to Google & Shoreline or even in Cupertino when they tear Valco Ghost Town Mall!

    ANYWHERE PLEASE JUST BUILD IT!

    Not entirely.

Newsom joked (or at least semi-joked) that since the South Bay was "trying to take away" the 49ers and the A's, that SF would take the Sharks or even the Earthquakes away from the South Bay in return.

Nonetheless, despite how sub-optimal The [Corporate name] Epicenter at San José will end up (according to its renderings), David Alioto has publicly assured that Earthquakes Soccer, LLC rightfully is concentrating on building it in San José and no where else.

Besides, the apparent delay isn't because of the City of San José "not getting its act together", but rather because of the difficulty of finding stadium naming-rights sponsors in this economy, which would be true regardless of where in the Bay Area The Epicenter is built (not to mention that ESLLC has already bought the portion of the Airport West land where The Ep is planned to be built).

The KC situation I believe in Kansas I think was a better offer than what Kansas City, Missouri could offer. Even though there are only 5 miles seperating the two cities and states, I think laws and benefits could differ from state to state...its not really like that though anywhere in the Bay Area.....

Call em the Earthquake or quakes when you want.

Wouldn't mind the derby between sj and sf either, but I also wouldn't mind the above scenario, absolutely no offense san jose.

Build the stadium at the former site of Candlestick Park, roof around all. Closer to downtown of course would be better.

cant come to terms on colors, probably keep the same, but wouldnt mind some gold in there, at least in the crest or some trim

    Oops, too late ...

And the San José City Council is scheduled to vote on the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Airport West site this March.

Still, an expansion MLS team named Bay Area United can probably be started in Kezar Stadium or thereabouts sometime in the future to participate in annual MLS Bay Area derbies with the San Jose Earthquakes. :D

As time passes and after speaking to a source semi close to the club , especially with no sign of a stadium even beginning to being built ,I'm wondering if voters pass the 49ers stadium, if the Quakes will end up sharing it with them? I know Lew wants all the revenue for himself but if not maybe they can split it? Just a thought.....

I agree. SF is the main city of the bay area. I live in Benicia now originally from the east bay and San Jose is just too far.

Not to mention I can't stand the Earthquake owners.

The only thing I see holding it back is that there's 5 major sports teams in the immediate area. I think thats why San Jose was chosen in the first place because it's kind of out there without a major sports team. Unless you follow hockey.

if the 49ers do go to Santa Clara a new SSS could be the center piece of the Hunters Point project. One can always dream.

just build it off an existing Bart station (not one to built in 15 yrs) and the folks from SF will come...millbrae or hayward bart, and keep the name. SF doesnt need a club, but it would be stupid to play a european powerhouse at spartan stadium or any stadium in SJ.

OK lets stop now because these discussions inevitably lead to someone from San Jose getting their panties in twist. We are not suppose to want a team in our city because they have one. boo hoo is right.

I mean they can try and bring the 49ers and A's to San Jose but they'd get mad if we brought the Earthquakes or another team to the heart of the area.

It's almost a two-hour drive. It'd be cool if there was a BART station there then I could just drive to El Cerrito and take a train there.

There isn't one, but that doesn't change the fact that we wish there was. Also last I checked there is no cement being poured for the SSS in San Jose either. So as of now the only SSS for the Quakes is on paper.

Come on isn't normal for the drive to be twice as long as the game. 99% of my friends who live north of Hayward won't go because of the drive.

If San Jose is light years away from an SSS, San Francisco is eons away from owning both a club and an SSS and I doubt they care about it and also there isn't any indication of them wanting to have one. Not so long ago I heard mayor Gavin Newsom on KNBR say he wanted the Earthquakes but that was only because Santa Clara wants the 49ers. I never read or heard anything about it anymore. I do however, agree with you. I've been saying this all along. I'll believe San Jose will get a stadium when I see it and I don't see it in the foreseeable future.

What scares me about the SSS is that it is being used as pawn in the A's negotiations. That is worrisome to me, I just wonder what is more important to Lew a SSS for the Quakes or a stadium for the A's and the fear that one could suffer because of the other. I'm like you I'll believe it when I see it. Right now its all lip service.

I think the 49ers will get theirs before the Quakes do.....and the Quakes will probably end up sharing it for 2-3 games a year.
