Is it? He was essentially transferred from Municipal to the Fire, so that should count as a new deal. It's fairly uncommon for an MLS team to actually pay a transfer fee for a loan player, so the case can be made for it being on the list.

There should be a third category after in and out for other deals: buying out loans, acquiring rights, re-signings, and so on.

Califf is a great signing for the Union! Nowak is a genius! Go Union!

I'm not saying Danny is slow, but he'd lose a foot race with Zach Thornton.

Nah. Danny'd be smart enough to distract ol' Zach with some cheeseburger obstacles

I'm not saying there isn't a fine point to be made here, but the purpose of this thread is comings and goings, not which players signed new deals. If that were true, we'd need to put McBride and CJ Brown on Chicago's list as well, as they re-upped.

The focus of this thread has always been "how will my team look different next year?" Pappa was there last season and will be there again next season, so there's no real need to add him to the in or out lists for the team.

At one point there was a much more detailed roster thread (maybe run by Nidal Baba Superstar?) that addressed finer points like international slots/etc. Maybe someone could restart that thread for stuff like this.

So does anyone have any idea who this "standout MLS midfielder" might be?

    Andy Williams?

    Brian Carroll?

Brian Mullan? (standout is a stretch)

    Chris Klein?

    Beckerman?

    Arturo Alvarez?

Again, standout is a relative term.

Exciting news for DCU and MLS. I love seeing these guys from Central and South America coming to MLS. Here's hoping he's a success.

"The LA Galaxy announced today that they have acquired three players on loan from Sao Paulo FC of the Brazilian Campeonato for the 2010 MLS season. Alex, a 21-year-old left-sided player, Juninho, a 20-year-old central midfielder and Leonardo, a 21-year-old central defender each spent two weeks training with the Galaxy in October, giving the Galaxy coaching staff a chance to see the players in action first hand. Per team and league policy, details of the loan agreements were not disclosed. All three players will be officially added to the Galaxy roster upon the receipt of their P1 visas and International Transfer Clearances (ITC)."

I guess LA doesn't get their last names until they get them permanent off of loan. ;)
